More Barclays Demos in London

SHAC London | 05.09.2008 16:08 | SHAC | Animal Liberation | London

This Thursday we used as a chance for another day of action against Barclays Bank, who are HLS's largest institutional shareholder as well as being third biggest shareholder in NYSE/Euronext. They are a disgusting greedy filthy-rich bank who will make money any which way. $8m of Barclays' money has been invested in HLS to kill, maim, burn, poison and mutilate sentient animals. How dare Barclays give money to this torture!

We started the 3 Barclays demos at their branch on Southampton Row, in Holborn. This is a decent place for a demo, with many people walking past and the protest was very visible to the passing traffic. We stayed at this location for about an hour, before moving onto another branch.

We arrived on Fleet St. to demonstrate against both Barclays on this street. Starting at number 19, we held a good demo, staying for about half an hour. Again, many leaflets distributed and many of the nearby workers were interested by our demonstration. We then moved on to number 81, where we stayed for about three quarters of an hour. This is about as good a branch to demonstrate at as anywhere, and the megaphones were used to reverberate the message to Barclays that investing in torture will not be tolerated. At this final location, a member of the public told us that he would move his substantial savings elsewhere now that he knows about Barclays' involvement in HLS. Another day, more lost customers for Barclays. A successful day of action against the world's scummiest bank.

Until next time...
