Is this appropriate?

Comrades,

Do you really think that it is appropriate to be advertising Anarchist Black Cross meetings on Indymedia? If ANYONE can get involved, ANYONE WILL. You've already had some problems, learn from those mistakes before you end up tarnishing the reputation of the ABC in general. Open meetings are not appropriate for the ABC, which is why NO OTHER GROUP has them.

really..

...doesn't bode very well if you can't even get the location and proper details in your first post.

Will there be a discussion of the recent scandal in London ABC, over whether a known rapist should be playing at a benefit for the group, at this meeting?

I understand several members left the group because of other members' support for him playing the gig. This is very worrying.

If this is not what happened, please do let us all know what did as rumours persist and this is a serious one.

An open meeting seems an ideal place to discuss not only what did or did not happen, but also what the group's policy would be from now on.

I trust you will also be having closed meetings and have probably discussed some of this already at those, but still the rumours are going outside the group so i believe the issue needs to be looked at openly with all who attend.

I hope you understand what i am saying and that i say it with the best of intentions.

unbelievable

they actually still have the promo for that gig up on their website, with a positive blurb about the rapist's band!

they changed the listing to claim it's a benefit only for the no borders group and not for them but the flier they have as an image still shows it was for them.

there is nothing of the fact he was called out for raping someone, it just says the name of the band, SOLZHENITSYN, and some random words about the noise they make.

*in the interests of fairness i should say he denied it was rape, claimed he was asleep and that he suffers version of sleepwalking syndrome, but at the same time claimed he was no risk to others as he can guarantee it wont happen again. without seeking any treatment for his supposed syndrome. all of this is in the public domain and widely known*

have london abc got no shame at all? what happened to this group - do not abc groups have to keep to a certain standard to be part of that network?
