Promoters face flyer crackdown

BARS and nightclubs risk being fined and having alcohol licenses withdrawn if their leaflets continue to litter the streets. From April landlords will need to get permission from Nottingham City Council if they want to distribute promotional material outside their premises. The new powers being introduced under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act could mean they are refused renewals on drink licenses if they don’t comply.

Nottingham theatre production in aid of Pakistan earthquake victims

We invite you to our new production ‘DEEP IN THE FROZEN NIGHT’ this is a very special performance piece, inspired by and dedicated to the millions of victims of the Pakistan earthquake.

December 17th - 18th, Sandfield College Theatre, Sandfield Centre (opposite Savoy Cinema on Derby Road), Lenton, Nottingham.

We have had a great response from local artists, community members and organisations all from multi cultural backgrounds, who, have volunteered their services and worked tirelessly over the last four weeks to make this production possible and bring you a great new performane piece. We are working collaboratively with Nottingham City Council; all money raised from ticket sales will go directly to the ‘Lord Mayors Earthquake Appeal’.

Short Sharp Shots: A Tour of CCTV in Nottingham City Centre

Artist and designer Jez Noond has produced a complex map of Nottingham city centre CCTV charting the different networks in use and the extent of coverage, it also reveals where the cameras cannot monitor us: the 'blind spots'.

Thursday 15 December 2005 - 6.00 - 7.00 pm

The artist will lead the tour through the city exploring and explaining the psychogeography of the networks using anecdote, fact and fiction.

Sneinton's Rubbish Day Out

Day of recycling fun in Sneinton to oppose incinerator expansion

On Saturday 3rd December a large community day will be held in Sneinton, Nottingham, to raise awareness of the proposed expansion of the Eastcroft incinerator and promote recycling through fun and games. Sneinton's Rubbish Day Out is an event organised by the local community and the NAIL campaign.

Artists will work to put new use to waste materials as lantern making, basket weaving, banner painting and wallet making workshops will take place throughout the day. Other activities include poetry, speakers, live music and refreshments from the new Sneinton community cafe collective.

“It will be a day to show people there are better and more positive ways of dealing with waste other than incineration. “ *

Sneinton's Rubbish Day Out will be held at the Old School Hall, Windmill Lane, Sneinton, Nottingham. Workshops and info from 11am – 4pm. Admission free. Live music from 6.30 until midnight ₤2. Parking on site available.

Request for photos of Geishas at the G8 summit

Here a request for photos of the Geishas that were part of the protests at the G8 summit. The Make Poverty History march, the Faslane blockade or the first day of the summit in and around Stirling were some of the things in which the 'Geishas of Gaiety' were 'mingling in the masses'. Also other actions in Nottingham, Sheffield and Derby had Geishas, any photos of that would be great.

The photos will be used in a feature article on Notts Indymedia and for a new website about the radical arts collective of which the Geishas are part of.
