Sneinton Festival - Opening Of The Sneinton Caves

11-07-2007 22:59 | Culture | Nottinghamshire

Come to the opening of the caves! (banner by one of the Mischief Makers).
Tonight the only remaining caves at Sneinton were open to the public. Like with most things nowadays there are insurance issues, thus has meant that the opening of the caves can only happen during bigger events such as the Sneinton Festival which would cover its insurance costs. Anyhow, here are some photos of the event. A lot more interesting is the ongoing campaigning by various people from the Nottingham Civic Society for the council to open up more of Nottingham's caves to the public. Once I've done an interview with someone from the Civic Society about the campaign, I will post the audio of this under the article.

Review of Climate Change Exhibition at the Castle, Nottingham

23-05-2007 13:06 | Climate Chaos | Culture | Nottinghamshire

Yesterday me and a couple of mates decided to go to the exhibition 'Exposed' at Nottingham Castle. Organised by the National Trust, the exhibition features a number of photographers who through their work have tried to document the various effects climate change already has in the UK. Although the exhibition was a lot about the National Trust and how climate change effects their buildings and gardens, it was an interesting look at some of the less visible changes happening today. The exhibition is free for city residents (take proof) and definitely worth seeing.
