Over 100 people attended a public meeting organised by the LGC on Saturday 31 May concerning the plight of Binyam Mohamed, a British resident currently facing a military tribunal and potentially the death penalty at Guantánamo Bay

On Friday 30 May, the US announced its decision to try Binyam Mohamed, the last Londoner in Guantánamo Bay, on terrorism-related charges. All "evidence" relating to the charges was procured through torture in Morocco, one of his pitstops through the murky underworld of "extraordinary rendition". Binyam, if "convicted" in this "kangaroo court", faces the DEATH PENALTY.

John Bolton, the former US ambassador to the United Nations, escaped a citizen’s arrest Wednesday night as he addressed an audience in Britain. We speak to George Monbiot, the British activist and columnist who tried to arrest Bolton. Monbiot says Bolton is a war criminal for his role in helping to initiate the US invasion of Iraq.

His death in March would have followed three weeks after the March 1st assassination of Raul Reyes who proposed a peace process in 2005, a process which Senator Cordoba was international recognised as working for in a role of interlocutor, opposed to paramilitarism and to the purpose of conflict resolution. Indeed Raul Reyes was married to one of Tirofijo's daughters Olga Marín.

The most stunning revelation in a 370-page Justice US Department Inspector General’s report released this week was that agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation had formally opened a “War Crimes” file, documenting torture they had witnessed at the Guantánamo Bay US prison camp, before being ordered by the administration to stop writing their reports.

We've all heard of the US 'Defcon' system of war readiness. But what about here in the UK, do we have a similar system or just do what the US tell us to? Come to think of it are we citizen/subjects even allowed to know what defence condition we are at? Is it considered an official secret covered up in the interests of 'National Security'? Zero is an eclectic film, but perhaps it is richer for its variety of viewpoints, some 9/11 Truthers will be dismayed by the opening focus on CD theory, some will be disappointed by the examination of physical anomalies at the Pentagon, some will be discouraged by the inclusion of an examination of the historical roots of "al Qaeda", but for Europeans seeing this information for the first time, they will have to take on this information and research it accordingly, should they see fit to do so.
