7/7: Angels & agents of Tavistock Square

Daniel 7:7
The agents were conspicuous, diligently adhereing to their tasks, proceeding busily, workman like. Apart from the obvious foot soldiers, (the blokes in blue) there were one or two more covert ones that stuck in my mind. Their cover was blown, not because of what they did, but because of what they didn’t do.........

Against imperialist war, for Iran workers

30-01-2007 16:05 | Iraq | Terror War | Workers' Movements | World

Over the last week, we have witnessed an escalation in the level of threats against Iran and an increase in the American military presence in the Persian Gulf, with the aim of controlling key waterways, should Iran retaliate against a potential US military threat. At the same time it is quite clear that indirect negotiations are taking place between the United States and Iran and the current US threats are an integral part of that.

Iraq’s colonial occupier, the US, denounces “foreign meddling”

30-01-2007 12:01 | Anti-militarism | Iraq | Terror War | World

In recent weeks US government and military officials, aided and abetted by the American media, have stepped up the war of words against Iran. As they did precisely four years ago, in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq, the political and media establishment is attempting to build up a case for military action against a country that has no designs on American territory and represents no threat to the US population.

Troop surge paves way for wider war

The Bush administration has authorized US military forces in Iraq to hunt down and kill Iranian government personnel operating in that country, according to a report that first appeared in the Washington Post last Friday. The newspaper said President Bush authorized the new “kill or capture” program last fall during a meeting with his most senior advisors, which also resulted in the approval of a series of other measures aimed at destabilizing the Iranian regime.

Italian court considers trial against CIA agents in rendition case

29-01-2007 13:43 | Repression | Terror War | World

Four years ago, Muslim cleric Abu Omar was kidnapped in Italy by US intelligence agents and transferred to an Egyptian torture prison. A hearing is currently taking place in Milan over the possible trial of those responsible for Abu Omar’s rendition. Public prosecutor Armando Spataro is seeking to bring charges against the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Italian military secret service SISMI (Servizio per le Informazioni e la Sicurezza Militare).

The Coming War Against Iran - Part 14

29-01-2007 00:32 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

Iran and the US Bases
Bush and Cheney have less than two years to go in their current role and want to go down in the history books as the heroes of the Pax Americana, as the men who managed to conquer the Middle East and its oil, as the men who took full-spectrum dominance seriously, while in their own country booking successes through exorbitant profits for the military-industrial complex and the realization of radical legislation. The prelude was long and the path was full of obstacles, but the goal of a third great war - a war with Iran - is increasingly within sight. Dan Plesch in The Guardian sums it up in one sentence: 'All the signs are that Bush is planning for a neocon-inspired military assault on Iran'.

As Iran’s nuclear program stands in shambles, US continues its military agenda

28-01-2007 21:39 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

“Iran’s efforts to produce highly enriched uranium … are in chaos and the country is still years from mastering the required technology,” according to Guardian.

Of course, the revelations will not stop the neocons and the Israelis from attacking the Muslim nation, as the reason for the attack has nothing to do with nukes or any possible threat Iran may or may not pose to Israel.

The next U.S.-Israeli target (Iran) for another "supreme international crime"

Still digesting their recent and ongoing aggressions in the Middle East, the Bush and Israeli regimes now threaten to attack Iran. As these warrior states cast their long shadow across the region, they find themselves aided and abetted by the Security Council, the other major powers, parties of the opposition, and the media.

American Politicos Campaign for Likudnik Total War Against the Palestinians

26-01-2007 18:28 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

Naturally, come the election next year, with the American election selectees all lined up neatly in a row like rubber ducks with their Likudnik endorsements in hand, we will hear nothing of this long planned ethnic cleansing campaign, although we will assuredly hear about the threat of Iran, determined to cobble together a nuclear bomb or two and take out Israel in one last suicidal gasp.

Stop the Iran War Before It Starts

25-01-2007 16:50 | Anti-militarism | Iraq | Terror War | World

In April 2001 I was invited to Washington, DC, by a group of Republican Congressmen collectively known as the Theme Team. The subject was Iraq. It seems that the Theme Team, responsible for monitoring the ideological pulse of America, was somewhat perturbed that a self-described Republican and former Marine officer, not to mention a former UN weapons inspector, was trash-talking America's Iraq policy. While this sort of action might have been acceptable during the tenure of a Democratic President like Bill Clinton, it was not part of the grand design when it came to the presidency of George W. Bush.

Presidential Selectee Hopefuls Do the Bomb Iran Conference

25-01-2007 12:22 | Anti-militarism | Iraq | Terror War | World

Newt Gingrich once again climbs up on the soapbox, this time at the Herzliya Conference sponsored by the Institute for Policy and Strategy in Israel. Newt tells us that the “terrorist threats are larger and more formidable than the political system in Israel or the US can cope with,” and of course, following the official fairy tale, this threat is nuclear, never mind Israel and the United States combined have more nukes than any other nation on the planet and have expressed their avid desire to use them, explicitly against Iran.

Iran Must Get Ready to Repel a Nuclear Attack

25-01-2007 10:42 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

In the overall flow of information coming from the Middle East, there are increasingly frequent reports indicating that within several months from now the US will deliver nuclear strikes on Iran. For example, citing well-informed but undisclosed sources, the Kuwaiti Arab Times wrote that the US plans to launch a missile and bomb attack on the territory of Iran before the end of April, 2007. The campaign will start from the sea and will be supported by the Patriot missile defense systems in order to let the US forces avoid a ground operation and to reduce the efficiency of the return strike by “any Persian Gulf country”.
