International Mobilization To Stop U.S. Attack on Iran

24-01-2007 17:18 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

Anyone, including those in Iranian political circles, who cherished the illusion that the Cheney-Bush cabal was not committed to a new war in Southwest Asia, has had to abandon such dreams in the wake of George W. Bush’s Jan. 10 speech on his “new” policy for Iraq. The so-called “surge” in troop strength for Iraq which Bush announced, was recognized, correctly, by all in the region, as a commitment to open a new war front, this time against Iran or Syria. This analysis, which EIR had been circulating for weeks, including during a visit to Tehran in late November-early December, was finally embraced as the correct reading.

Moves Toward War with Iran: We Must Stop This

23-01-2007 05:41 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

"Once again, the public case for war is bogus. The CIA's best estimate is that Iran could not develop a nuclear weapon for another ten years, assuming it wants to. No evidence that Iran is providing support to Iraqi insurgents has been made public. And now it has been reconfirmed that Vice-President Dick Cheney dismissed an Iranian offer of peace in 2003, with the Iranians offering the same concessions that the White House now claims to be seeking."

NATO’s Hidden Terrorism

22-01-2007 21:49 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

Daniele Ganser, professor of contemporary history at Bale University (France) and chairman of the ASPO - Switzerland, published a landmark book about "NATO’s Secret Armies." According to him, during the last 50 years the United States have organized bombings in Western Europe that they have falsely attributed to the left and the extreme left with the purpose of discrediting them in the eyes of their voters. This strategy is still present today, inspiring fear for the Islam and justifying wars on oil.

CIA Recruiting 'Terrorists' in Egypt to Fight in Iraqi and Afghanistan

18-12-2006 15:39 | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

Russian newspaper Pravda reported a few days ago that the Russian president is "furious" with the American war leader, George W. Bush, over his breaking of a promise to not provide US funding to Israeli for their War on Lebanon last summer. In an even greater affront to Russia, and its supposed Middle Eastern ally Egypt, reports also accused the US of operating a "CIA/French Intelligence backed terror ring on Egyptian territory for the recruitment of foreign fighters to be deployed in the Iraqi and Afghanistan wars." Egyptian authorities, however, had infiltrated the group and arrested the American and French ring leaders.

The Liquid Terror Bomb Mastermind - Aquitted

17-12-2006 00:06 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Other Press | Terror War | Sheffield | World

Rashid Rauf, the proclaimed mastermind behind the "liquid terror bomb" plot from the summer of 2006 is not to be proscuted for terror offensives due to a lack of evidence:

Pakistan drops terrorism charges against key suspect in Heathrow bomb plot

On December 13, in an extraordinary turn of events, a court in Pakistan dropped terrorism charges against British-born Rashid Rauf.

Rauf is the alleged “ringleader” of the most infamous terror plot ever apparently uncovered in Britain—the plan to explode a number of transatlantic airlines en route from London’s Heathrow airport.

Details of the court hearing are extremely limited. But according to reports, a judge at an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpinidi said that the case against Rauf did not “fall into the category of terrorism.”

Rauf’s lawyer, Hashmat Habib, said no evidence had been provided to back up claims that his client was part of a conspiracy to hijack airplanes, and the judge agreed to strike out the two charges against Rauf relating to terrorism. “That practically means that Rashid Rauf has been acquitted of charges relating to terrorism,” Habib said.
