While millions of jingoists were feting 11 ball game players in Central London, a small group of demonstrators protested against the outrageously massive Arms Fair at the Excel Centre in Docklands, virtually unnoticed. On my way home I noted the massive police encampment on the south side of Connaught Bridge. They must outnumber DSEi demonstrators several times over. This is how the State controls and dupes the People.

This method basically broke apart with the increasing growth of an urban population. Besides, modern organised armies could recruit and train their own forces, and having the normal population well trained in combat became a scary idea for those in charge (REMEMBER- today Tony Blair will send you to prison for having a realistic looking WATER PISTOL).
Anyhoo, if combat skills were NOT required of the population, MINDLESS JINGOISM most certainly was. Bit of a problem, though, when modern times meant that the actual enemy could not be predictated in advance. No point training your people from birth to HATE the French and LOVE the Dutch, if come the time of war, the French are our allies, and the Dutch are our enemies.
Luckily, the people themselves helped invent the solution- TEAM SPORTS. Team sports template a generic jingoism. People of low intellect (ie most of the male population) work themselves into a blind hysteria over events that actually metaphor the most idiotic and unreasonable aspects of warfare. They are, of course, simply being kept in a state of readiness for the real thing.
It should come as NO SURPRISE that the biggest story about Afghanistan in the States was not about the hundreds of thousands butchered by Blair and Bush, but about the fate of ONE American Football Player who joined up after 911 to murder Muslims (his stated goal). Amusingly, this sick moron was blown away by his own people (a fact that emerged after the world press told an endless series of lies about the guys heroic end fighting bravely to exterminate dark-skinned humans).
