On 23 March 2007, 15 Royal Navy personnel were taken at gunpoint by Iranian forces in the Gulf. Five days before, on 18 March 2007, the Sunday Times ran a story predicting that an incident like this had been threatened by Iran, and explained the reasons why.

Four years on from the “shock and awe” invasion of Iraq, peace campaigners in Swindon, determined that this anniversary should not go unmarked, braved the bitter cold to hold vigils at the Cenotaph at lunch time and in the early evening.

Fifteen activists picketed Liverpool army recruitment on James Street yesterday, in an event organised by Liverpool Social Forum and the Merseyside Anarchist Group. We were marking four years since the invasion of Iraq began, but we were also starting a round of campaigning which we hope will break the Stop The War Coalition's stranglehold on the anti-war movement in the area.

Tyneside Action Report: No More Blood for Oil, Troops Out of Iraq

On Saturday 17th March supporters of the RCG (Revolutionary Communist Group), its newspaper Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! and other assorted activists held a protest outside the Shell petrol station in Byker to mark the approaching 4th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, and to draw attention to Britain's economic interests which lie behind the continuing occupation.
