Jaya Sacca's bail hearing

Jaya supporter | 18.07.2005 10:25 | Anti-militarism | Repression | South Coast

Jaya Sacca, the peace activist currently in Lewes prison near Brighton, has a bail hearing this Wednesday at 10 at Lewes Crown Court. There will be a support demo outside the court from 10.

Jaya was 'arrested' by Guardian security guards last Wednesday whilst leaving a demo, handed over to the cops and then remanded the following morning at Brighton Mags until August 11th. The police only listened to lying Guardian 'security guards' ignoring the eye-witnesses present. All the charges - breaching bail, intimidation and ABH under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 - are spurious and will not stand up in court.

There will be a Jaya support demo outside EDO/MBM this Wednesday from 4-6 to show the warmongers we will not be intimidated by paid goons.

bang 'em up

Judge Arnold can't get enough of banging up peace protesters - this is the second one she has remanded in successive months -as if our prison service isn't full up enough as it is. I hear HMP Lewes is already full to the rafters, understaffed and with poor facilities.
Seems that this is one campaign she is determined to terminate with extreme measures.
HMP Smash EDO anyone, with workshops on roof protests, lock-ons - no shortage of possibilities there - and the legality of protest - step on the road and you get banged up.
Perhaps a worshop on prison life for those unfamiliar with this culture might be appropriate.

Prisoners of Bullshit Laws

Good luck Jaya for Wednesday.

Be strong.

With all this terrible news about what EDO and co are up to I'm thinking of taking out an injunction against EDO for causing. harassment alarm and distress. Perhaps TLC will take on the case pro bono? There is clearly a course of conduct here amounting to harassment of protesters. EDO have even been trying to get previous home adresses of defendents in the Injunction hearings. Obviously they are planning to terrorise people into not demonstrating.

Nothing that EDO even allege (wrongly) that the so called SmasEDO folk have done, in their 'evidence' comes close to what EDO are obviously using their state sanctioned fitting up licence to do to protesters. So much for the balance of interests. The notoriously corrupt arms industry, well known for bribery and dodgey dealings, has bought itself the Sussex Police for a
mere £50'000, (overvalued in my view but for EDO Corp nothing to worry about).

small change

50 grand really is small potatoes to a company like EDO/MBM who will be backed to the hilt by the state with generous subsidies and no doubt generous insurance cover which they can probably claim on for the policing of the injunction by the Guardian mafia - still at least it is EDO footing the bill now and not Sussex police. It took about a year for Suusex police to say enough's enough. no more tax payer'a money is being wasted here. except of course through gov. subsidies to EDO.
Guardian really are starting to behave like a paramilitary force with intimidation, harassment and even assault against peaceful protesters - Jaya was forcefully detained with handcuffs last week by 4 monkeys who cynically waited to the end of the EDO as people were leaving and had their backs turned. This was clearly a provocation and regular cops wouldn't have been able to act in such an underhand way. Still having ensured no cameras were filmed Guardian thought they could get away with such illegal actions.
Guardian will wish they never got involved with EDo when the truth about their dirty tactics becomes splashed over every newspaper in the land.
