Candidate Alexander: LAPD Assaults May Day Supporters

Los Angeles police officers brutally assaulted peaceful marchers and supporters at a rally in Los Angeles creating outrage and anger from millions nationwide. Many of the people that were present in the park were mother, children and babies. The cops were seen beating many with sticks on television; people and children that were offering no resistance. Also there were members of the press that were brutally assaulted.

The gentrification of free festivals

It is spring equinox, the moon is bright. I had sweet-talked some sweet foreigners into attending the Beltane festival on Calton Hill in Edinburgh tonight. It used to be a great festival, music, fire, dance. I've been about 5 times over it's 20 year history, but I've been busy with war stuff for the past 3 years. I did go the year it was 'banned' (  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2003/05/66387.html ) and I was one of the people who ignored the council bouncers and took down the barriers. I've done other stuff to help out too, and when they started asking for donations, I was happy to donate.

HBOS AGM Brighton Dome Family Petition Executive Directors Yesterday, (25th April) the evicted houseboat – ‘Shalom’ Family of seven, from Wales, called on banking giant HBOS PLC at their AGM which was being held at the Brighton Dome. A simple message, asking for ‘help’, was conveyed to the Crest Nicholson ‘major shareholder’, and a letter of petition was received by bank staff.
