13 arrested at Rio Tinto-Alcan smelter blockade

ICELAND: Today about 20 protesters climbed cranes and blocked access to the Rio Tinto-Alcan smelter in Hafnarfjordur. 13 were arrested and one is still being held hostage by the police in Reykjavik. Saving Iceland has organized a 'summer of dissent' as a part of a campaign against the war-mongering aluminum industry and their subservient pets in Government. Beyond protesting against the devastating exploitation of Iceland's rivers and wilderness for cheap energy, the network is linked to groups with the same corporate enemies in Brazil, Trinidad, South Africa, and India. The struggle continues with Iceland's second Critical Mass this Friday. Read more >>

NATO, must be Disbanded for Contributing to the Scourge of War, and For Defying

Although not all NATO states have been engaged in the following impugned actions, through their membership in NATO they have been complicit.. Under Article V of the NATO Constitution, an attack on one is an attack on all. So an impunity caused by one state, is an impunity caused by all. The condoning, by some members of NATO, of an attack on nuclear installations in a sovereign state implicates all NATO members.

GETTING OUT OF "The spin we're in". . . . REMEMBER "CONSPIRACY"?

As last weeks USA Social Forum in NEW YORK votes to support the 911 re-inquiry, a few days after the ex-secret documents from 1973 are released to the public by the cia ( including references to the initial in-house research into "administration of the mind" - that conmens dream - the use of chemicals, electricity, radiation etc to exacerbate the effects of mesmerism -) old easy dismissals of awkward facts as "conspiracy" are obsolete to serious observers. Filipina Senator Opposes Arroyo State Terrrorism & U.S. Imperialism

Senator Madrigal with NDF representatives Louie Jalandoni and Jose Maria Sison
Of distinguished progressive lineage, Senator Jamby Madrigal of the Philippines takes a principled stand critical of the Arroyo regime's bloody and brutal repression of Filipinos backed by the Bush neocons. This article provides the historical context for the Philippine crisis and Senator Madrigal's views on U.S. imperialism in the neocolony and its complicity with State-terrorist repression of citizens by extrajudicial political killings and forced disappearances already condemned by the UN, Amnesty International, World Council of Churches, Human Rights Watch, and the Permanent People's Tribunal of Europe.
