Direct action against the war: London, Thursday lunchtime

Tonight's direct action planning meeting at the LSE attracted a wide cross-section of people, and was not without difficulties (as posted by someone at  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/08/346654.html), but a plan for immediate action did emerge, and the machinery to facilitate further direct action was initiated. Details of an action called for this Thursday follow: Read more >>

An Assembly of Well-Meaning People

Tonight’s assembly in Central London for direct action against the invasion of Lebanon was not entirely unproductive. However the discussion often seemed to be going round in circles, with little progress being made towards the aim of ‘direct action’ and people feeling increasingly frustrated and drained. This scenario will have felt familiar to people who have attended similar meetings in the past. The problem, in a nutshell, is a fundamental flaw in the design of such meetings. Read more >>

Lebanon actions in Hackney

Video
This morning residents of Hackney woke up to the ghastly images that have
started to confront the people of Lebanon on a daily basis. Horrific
pictures had been flyposted throughout the night in an attempt to make
people realise the true extent of the war crimes of Israel.

The British government and British companies like Marks & Spencer (see
www.bigcampaign.org) and Edo MBM (see www.smashedo.org.uk) are still
supporting and providing Israel with the money, backing, resources and
technology to commit human rights abuses against people in Israel, and to there neighbours. So this action was an attempt to show the full images that aren't being show or talked about in the mainstream press. Read more >>
