Do something for West Papua

In 1967 the West Papuans were cheated out of independance by Indonesia with the complicity of the UN. It will only take a few minutes to write to the Indonesian embassy and contact Blair and your MP. People will be going to London tomorrow from Oxford. Join them if you can.

If we see gross injustice and do nothing are we complicit by inaction? Read more >>

Campsfield Banner Snag!!

After the police told the organisers of the Campsfield 10th anniversary protests that the planned demonstration couldn’t go round the back of the detention centre where detainees can come out into a yard and hear the demonstration, three banners mysteriously appeared snagged high on the perimeter fence last night. Stating ‘No One is Illegal’, ‘No Deportations’ and ‘No Detentions’, these banners were clearly visible to detainees inside providing a much needed morale boost for the asylum seekers, who quite often spend more than a year locked up with no trial and no charge waiting for their applications to be considered. Eid mobarak

Eid mobarak to all muslims for Eid starting tomorrow.

Wouldn't it be great if non muslims said 'Eid mobarak' to muslims. It would let them know that a lot of people disagree with the negative impression given by much of the press and certain politians.

"Bush Free Zone" banner hang - pictures

Climber hanging the "Bush Free Zone" banner
At 8:30 am on November 20th at Admiralty Arch, Oxford activists unfurled a banner reading 'Bush Free Zone' and decorated with a (Bush choking) pretzel, and handed out leaflets which quoted the memoirs of George Bush Senior where he said occupying Iraq would be "unilaterally exceeding the United Nations' mandate," and "Had we gone the invasion [of Iraq] route, the United States could conceivably still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land."
