Burdened with debt reloaded - An analysis of the current situation in Greece

12-04-2012 12:09 | Analysis | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements | World

In Greece, the initial austerity measures developed into a full blown shock policy of devaluation of capital, which has deepened the recession and increased public debt. A main ingredient of the politics of devaluation of capital is the depreciation of labour power which aims at the weakening of the power of the working class by establishing permanent austerity and disciplining mechanisms, and by the creation of a large reserve army. Furthermore, this depreciation of labour power is facilitated by the institutional abolition of collective bargaining agreements, a process which, to a great extent, undermines the very function of the labour power representation mechanisms…

1954's inaugural Bilderberg meeting held in SS Field Marshal Model's wartime HQ

04-04-2012 23:44 | Analysis | Anti-racism | History | World

Audio
Shocking new revelations are the fruits of research by retired elecronics engineer Dave Barnby and myself - It seems absolutely clear now that the first ever Bilderberg meeting was held in the former headquarters of the Nazis' Army Group B - Field Marshal Walther Model's SS WW2 HQ. Exactly 10 years after operation Market Garden ... which Bernhard was spying in at the behest of the King George VI who put him in the planning job ... and Lord Carrington was the lead tank that 'stopped for tea' which got Robert Redford so angry in Robert E. Levine's Bridge Too Far film. Exclusive interviews with Capt. T Moffatt Burriss (82nd Airborne) & military historian & former Parachute regiment officer Robert Kershaw

MoD procurement privatisation - crucial article that didn't appear online

23-03-2012 13:55 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Public sector cuts | World

This article appeared in the print edition of the Bristol Evening Post but someone somewhere decided it should not appear in the online edition - wonder why? It names and shames the massive companies that are circling round the MoD procurement centre at Abbey Wood, North Bristol like vultures. Just imagine if the private arms firms were in charge of overseeing government arms contracts. Bye-bye future - it's 1984 in spades! The last line - as ever - is the most important considering BAe Systems are 'at the heart of corruption' in the global arms trade.according to Andrew Feinstein (see below)

Death & Devil

10-03-2012 12:01 | Analysis | Ecology | Repression | World

This is a message to everybody and nobody from no one in particular. I am writing because you need to know that I have no voice, no face and no identity. I only have a presence. But this includes all the world, even these who continue to abuse it. My past has been stolen from me, since I was looking at the future without an experience of abuse. Now history itself is revisionist because everything in the present is a lie in the flow of time. Any truth has become a target for evil, and the closest thing to evil on Earth, the regime, has attacked the closest thing to truth here, the human yearning. This means you because only you can abolish the regime, clear its legacies and rehabilitate the targeted. You have to decide upon what is to be done and how this can be successfully prevented in the future. Just like there already is a first amendment to the categorical imperative, you can add another one.

Anti-corruption activist savages BBC on its 80th Birthday

02-03-2012 17:47 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Other Press | World

The BBC is marking the 80th anniversary of its World Service, and has been gushing about its supposed virtues. It claims to be: ‘fearless and so impartial that it allows its critics to argue their case on its own programs’. Meanwhile it continues to white wash fraud and corruption on UK military equipment contracts.

SYRIA: “Human Rights” Warriors for Empire

24-02-2012 12:16 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Social Struggles | South Coast | World

The largest imperial offensive since the Iraq invasion of March, 2003, is in full swing, under the banner of “humanitarian” intervention – Barack Obama’s fiendishly clever upgrade of George Bush’s “dumb” wars. Having failed to obtain a Libyan-style United Nations Security Council fig leaf for a “humanitarian” military strike against Syria, the United States shifts effortlessly to a global campaign “outside the U.N. system” to expand its NATO/Persian Gulf royalty/Jihadi coalition.

Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch are swigging the ale with their fellow buccaneers. These “human rights” warriors, headquartered in the bellies of empires past and present, their chests shiny with medals of propagandistic service to superpower aggression in Libya, contribute “left” legitimacy to the imperial project.

Political Upheaval Looms Large in Greece

22-02-2012 23:56 | Analysis | Social Struggles | Workers' Movements | World

The Greek class war is being fought ever more openly
There is no doubt that Greece is on the verge of a dramatic political change, following years of banker-dictated austerity measures which have slashed living standards for all but the super-rich. But there is much doubt about exactly what will happen next. Are Greek workers about to storm heaven, or will they be crushed under fascist jackboots? I think there seem to be four main possibilities.
