Official Version of Naval Incident Starts to Unravel

12-01-2008 23:10 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

Despite the official and media portrayal of the incident in the Strait of Hormuz early Monday morning as a serious threat to US ships from Iranian speedboats that nearly resulted in a "battle at sea," new information over the past three days suggests that the incident did not involve such a threat and that no US commander was on the verge of firing at the Iranian boats.

'Leftists' and animal rights, the new book.

11-01-2008 20:45 | Analysis | Animal Liberation | Social Struggles | World

'Suggest to the average leftist that animals should be part of broader liberation struggles and—once they stop laughing—you'll find yourself casually dismissed. With a focus on labor, property, and the life of commodities, Making a Killing contains key insights into the broad nature of domination, power, and hierarchy. It explores the intersections between human and animal oppressions and their relation to the exploitative dynamics of capitalism. Combining nuts and bolts Marxist political economy, a pluralistic anarchist critique, as well as a searing assessment of the animal rights movement, Bob Torres challenges conventional anti-capitalist thinking and convincingly advocates for the abolition of animals in industry—and on the dinner plate.'

Strait Facts

11-01-2008 16:57 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

Iran's release of the video taken on the morning of Sunday January 6th in the Strait of Hormuz, clearly debunks Pentagon's hype of depicting a routine patrolling operation by the Iranian Navy as an act of unfathomable aggression against the United States.

2008 presidential charade promises deepening of government criminality and expan

11-01-2008 00:19 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

Every election in modern US history has been a criminal manipulation, choreographed and rigged by political elites and performed by hand-picked elite puppets, each backed by their teams of corrupt war criminals, intelligence/security “advisors” and think tank assets. The 2008 affair will be no different.

Operation Gladio - NATO's Secret Armies, P1 and P2`Lodge explained

10-01-2008 20:44 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

Audio
According to several whistleblowers Gladio was one of NATOs most Top Secret Operations ever. The plan was ostenibly to plant arms caches and train saboterus to operate behind enemy lines should the Soviet Union invade Europe.
In fact these arms caches were used by fascists officer cardres and specially selected NATO Special Forces soldiers to ferment terror in Europe that was then blamed on the far left.
At least three murderous terror groups associated with left-wing political causes in Europe have since been exposed as no more than NATO Intelligence 'front organisations'.

Afghanistan: The 'good war' is a bad war

10-01-2008 12:06 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

In his latest article for the New Statesman, John Pilger describes how the invasion of Afghanistan, which was widely supported in the West as a 'good war' and justifiable response to 9/11, was actually planned months before 9/11 and is the latest instalment of 'a great game'.

"To me, I confess, [countries] are pieces on a chessboard upon which is being played out a game for dominion of the world."
Lord Curzon, viceroy of India, speaking about Afghanistan, 1898

Iraq: The myth of sectarianism - The policy is divide to rule

09-01-2008 23:55 | Analysis | Iraq | Terror War | World

IF THE U.S. leaves Iraq, the violent sectarianism between the Sunni and Shia will worsen. This is what Republicans and Democrats alike will have us believe. This key piece of rhetoric is used to justify the continuance of the occupation of Iraq.

The Bomb in the Shadows: Proliferation, Corruption and the Way of the World

09-01-2008 22:58 | Analysis | History | Terror War | World

This week, the Sunday Times lifted the lid on one of the most important stories of the last quarter-century: how American officials sold nuclear arms technology to illegal proliferators -- including ideological allies of al Qaeda -- in return for bribes and other inducements. This widespread corruption has been protected from exposure by the highest levels of the U.S. government, which has gone to enormous lengths to protect the truth from coming out. The entire planet has been put at grave risk by the greed -- and geopolitical gamesmanship -- that lies behind this criminal enterprise, which actually is even more extensive, and goes back further in time, than the newspaper's remarkable revelations.

Oil Price Touches $100 a Barrel; Signal of Pending Oil Shortages Ignored

07-01-2008 10:31 | Analysis | Ecology | Technology | Sheffield | World

Oil Production Graph
The price for West Texas Intermediate (WTI) oil touched $100 on January 2, 2008, a new milestone. According to TheOilDrum.com, WTI oil price has been giving a very clear signal of pending shortage for over five years now, and in breaching the symbolic $100 a barrel mark, continues to do so. Those driving the world economy have steadfastly ignored this red warning light. In doing so, they are steering the world toward an energy disaster characterized by shortages, high energy prices, inflation, growing inequity, civil unrest and famine.

Crash 2008: ¡Que no sigan robando!

06-01-2008 16:31 | Analysis | Globalisation | Social Struggles | World

Sorry for Spanish.

The "War on Terror" and Africa’s Worst Humanitarian Crisis

04-01-2008 15:25 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

If Darfur can be classified as a place of genocide, then surely Somalia, which United Nations observers call "the worst humanitarian crisis in Africa," fits the same bill. But the U.S. and its allies are the cause of Somalia's nightmare - and so, the world is largely mute.

Invading Pakistan: An idea whose time has come

03-01-2008 20:16 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Terror War | World

As usual, the Neocons-Zionists are paying no attention to the consequences of their totalitarian designs. They hardly care if Iraq and Afghanistan are in total chaos and millions of innocent lives have been lost. What is chaos to us is a success to them. Without such a vast turmoil, they believe it is not easy to redraw the maps in the Middle-East [5] (including South Asia) and permanently tame the Muslim world in favour of Israel’s expansionist drive.
