To the European parliaments members

26-02-2004 19:57 | Analysis | World

Many of you believe that this resolution is crucial in the Palestinian conflict, however you have voted on it without consulting with the Friends of Palestine. It may have been that you were busy in the preparation for Geneva Accords while voting for this resolution. It may be that now you will doubt your vote. The resolution that you have supported violates the basic legitimate Palestinians rights to “terminate the occupation”, and the right of return, which is recognized under international law.

Article seeks to assault stupidity in our activist culture

12-02-2004 03:50 | Analysis | World

do you wait for your "leaders" to "help" you, or do you arm your desires?
here is a run-down (in mode of quick notes) to this interesting article, with a link provided. "...we challenge left activist culture to live up to its anti-hierarchical claims: activists should themselves become intellectuals. Why reproduce the larger society's division between mental and physical labor?"

06-02-2004 07:23 | Analysis | World

we don't have to let others' expedient interests tool us
Allegations are arising that the IMC momentum is already slowing down due to too much administrative handiwork. An anarchist discussion points out possible reasons and solutions. Points to consider: the meta of control desires, pros/cons of restrictive protection vs enriching protection

US and UK support brutal dictators

06-02-2004 06:28 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Repression | World

For foreign policy, there should be a single, universal standard of justice that is applied to all cases. When "leaders" apply different standards depending on their own short-term political gain, few people are fooled, no one is impressed, and no actual leadership takes place.

Why is it so hard for people such as Bush and Blair to show leadership? Instead of applying a single criterion of judgement on Saddam Hussein and all other national figures, they oppose some while supporting others. That is precisely how the U.S. nurtured previous dictators such as Manuel Noriega, Ferdinand Marcos, and Saddam Hussein himself. Give us consistent morality, not double standards!

Support for Iraqi resistance is 'thought crime'

02-02-2004 18:10 | Analysis | World

John Pilger
Australia's Green-left website www.greenleft.org.au is mysteriously down (6pm GMT). Could it be because the lead interview - with award winning Journalst John Pilger - encourages the anti war movement in the west to build links with the Iraqi resistance? Could it be a thought-crime website? If so well done Greenlefties in Oz! Anyway here is that INTERVIEW.
