Cost to keep immigrants in detention

03-09-2008 23:04

'The average direct budget cost for 2007/08 for operating each establishment in the immigration removal estate was £119 per bed space per day.'
Data obtained by NCADC under the Freedom of Information Act.
2500 innocent men women and children are detained in the UK at any given time and the government's plans are to increase detention spaces to 4000.
All the money ultimately comes from the taxes we pay. Who's good at maths?

Caesar’s Vicar's Irish Govenor Have A Good Laught At The Irish And The Poles

31-08-2008 14:58

CAESAR’S VICAR’S IRISH GOVERNOR, CARDINAL SEAN BRADY, THE IRISH MIND, THE POLISH MIND AND THE BIG PICTURE

Why did the Irish reject Lisbon?

There is the small answer, the big answer and the in-between answer to this question

The small answer: The irish rejected Lisbon because the Rocco Buttigleoni, the Popes’ friend, was not given the job of EU Commissioner for Justice.

The Big Answer: The Irish rejected Lisbon because the Pope wants Europe to know that he really is Caesar’s Messiah’s Vicar on earth (I think he has given up his rank in the next world!) and that secular society, especially its Russian and Chinese form, being recalcitrant to his advices, are getting on Caesar’s nerves.

The In-between Answer: The Irish rejection of Lisbon was orchestrated to operate in tandem with the Poles unilaterally installing missiles aimed at Russia’s neck (justified by the planned agitation in Georgia) and Tibet’s Buddhist-Inspired provocation of China.

To understand how these answers fit into a single time-span that operates as a constant force in the world, one must be both a Catholic and a Pope. But laymen can get a glimpse of the Pope’s shenanigans by recalling some well-worn Papal methods of engagement. These, also, have a long-term as well as a short-term perspective.

Call for Solidarity with the Lubicon Cree

29-08-2008 19:16

This is an action against TransCanada Pipelines - the major multinational pipeline company that is trying to build a pipeline across unceded Lubicon land despite the United Nations explicitly calling on Canada to stop violation of Lubicon rights. More importantly, the Lubicon themselves have not given permission for the construction of this pipeline.

Zapatista solidarity protests at Edinburgh, Bournemouth and European Airports

Zapatista solidarity protest at Edinburgh Airport
Passengers hurrying into the main check-in at Edinburgh international airport on 22 August were greeted by an unusual sight. A massive banner proclaimed: “ MEXICO ...Sun…Fun…bloomin’ nice beaches…”, alongside a painting of a palm tree. A somewhat eccentric Mexican tourist board initiative perhaps?
Not exactly. “Torture….Death Squads…Human Rights Breaches…” continued the lower half of the banner, with a carefully painted AK47 illustrating the point.

In the Name of Decency, Compassion & Higher Justice: Allow American War Resister

23-08-2008 14:01

I am beginning to feel like the Government of Canada is
attempting to adopt an ideology as our national identity and I am very
disturbed by that. I feel that some of your policies are beginning to depart
from deeply held traditional Canadian values. And you are transforming the
face of Canada with the mandate of a minority Government. You also have a
majority in the House of Commons who voted, on behalf of Canadians, to
support the request made by American War resisters to remain in Canada.

Shifting The Burden Of Proof Changes Nothing In The GM Debate

22-08-2008 10:09

Imagine the scene: you walk into a bar and someone immediately faces you up, brandishing their fists, red with pent-up aggression clearly eager to send you on to the floor or worse. He screams into your face, spittle flecks flying across your nose and lips, “Prove to me that you deserve not to be punched repeatedly in the face!”
