White working class? Is that investigative journalism?

Most local and national journalism defaults to notions of an underclass of 'losers' without any analysis of how these 'losers' have been structurally excluded. The recent discovery of 'working class' and 'white' as a disadvantaged group is for purely cynical and sensationalist reasons.

If there was a time when Iranian analysts and decision makers would question the benefits of continuing to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency, it would be now. The IAEA has allowed systematic US intervention in Iran's nuclear file paving the way to a third round of sanctions. But while US pressure on Iran with the knowledge that no evidence of a covert weapons programme exists, is perhaps in the hope that it will finally force Iran to leave the NPT in protest, Iran seems to be one step ahead and does exactly the opposite.

An old-style colonial viceroy and imperialist administrators will have control over foreign and domestic policy. 1 March Lancaster Carnival of Culture against corporate takeover

This Saturday 1 March, Lancaster will see its first Carnival of Culture, a celebration of everything that's fun about Lancaster and a protest against the corporate take over of the city.
Lots of towns and cities around the UK are being turned into identi-kit clone towns. Lancaster seems to be next in line. This Saturday will see hundreds of people take to the streets in opposition to these plans. There'll be musicians, dancers, jugglers, dragons, puppets, flags, banners, food and lots of fun.

An aggregate processing plant on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park has been sabotaged. The Plant is owned by Bardon Aggregates a member of Aggregate Industries, part of the Holcim Group and owner of the Glensanda Quarry on the north west coast of Scotland.
