Protests at Birmingham Hippodrome over Israeli dance company

As Israel cranks up its campaign of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza with fresh bombing attacks and a possible ground invasion, protests took place both inside and outside the Birmingham Hippodrome where the Israeli dance group Batsheva were performing.

George Osborne’s autumn budget statement will set out huge cuts for the next financial year, with an extra £10bn-£16bn to be lopped off the welfare budget expected to be the big headline. Austerity is failing but as the deficit begins to rise the government’s only answer is more cuts. We need alternative economic policies to solve this problem.

Film Night & Talk - Justice For The Shrewsbury 24

The Shrewsbury 24 were builders who took part in pickets of building sites during the first ever national building workers strike. Six of the pickets were stitched up on conspiracy charges and sent down for up to 3 years. Their crime was to be part of a trade union campaign to get a decent rate of pay and safer working conditions for all building workers.

As Coal Use Declines Why Make It Easier to Dig It Out

The Loose Anti Opencast Network is calling on the Government to align Planning Policy with Energy Policy after discovering that it is the Government's intention to phase out the use of coal for power generation purposes, leading to a 75% decline in the use of coal for such a purpose over the next 10 years. At the same time, through provisions in the Growth and Infrastructure Bill it is possibly making it easier to dig the coal out!
