Councillor John Lines’ Homeless Village in Birmingham

banners A protest camp named after Councillor John Lines who’s responsible for the city’s housing, was established last Thursday on derelict land owned by Birmingham City Council. Cllr. Lines has denied there is a homeless problem in Birmingham and also denies there is money available to build new ‘social housing’. The occupied land has been unused for around seven years whilst there are over 30,000 people in the city waiting for housing. The protest is against the Council holding on to land that could be sold at a ‘friendly’ price to Housing associations thereby allowing Housing Associations to draw up to £100m of grants to provide ‘social housing’. “At a cost of £50,000 per unit, the £100m could provide around 2,000 homes” said one of the protesters. They claim the Council’s approach is speculative - by holding onto unused land and buildings with a view to selling them off to the highest commercial bidder.

Immigration crunch? The Times' and BBC's anti-immigration agendas

There is nothing new about scapegoating migrants and blaming them for the various problems of our society and the system of which they, too, are victims. But the latest comments by the new Immigration Minister and the depressing media coverage they received were too much to swallow.

Anselme Noumbiwa / French passengers protest stops removal
Anselme was removed from the UK on a BA flight on Thursday morning from London Heathrow; Anselme's appeal to the passengers to stop his removal on the BA flight fell on deaf ears and the flight proceeded on the first leg to Paris.

However when Anselme was put on to an Air France flight at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and again appealed to passengers the response was overwhelming. Passengers stood up and demanded Anselme be removed from the plane, the French airport police were brought onto the plane to try and persuade the passengers to sit down and let the flight proceed, they refused, so Anselme was taken off the plane and returned to the UK. He is now in Colnbrook Short Term Holding and can be contacted on 020 8607 5200 Ex 678 or 079 1938 8365. Anselme alleges escorts again roughed him up.

The Anti-Christ or The Leo Straussian NeoCon Front?

Still if the “biblical” version of Anti-Christ is considered then every age has had millions of such people. But Barack Obama is not one of them. He is Christian. And we know this from the contrarian propaganda of their rovian, right-wing, smear machine as insinuated into this campaign as they have tried to tie Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s behavior and attitude to that of Barack Obama. And we also know from Obama’s value system of his being concerned about other people (and not a primarily selfish creed of too many in the right-wing). They can’t have it both ways in their distortive propaganda.
