Breaking News: Adel Hamad is Back in Sudan!
We finally have some great news to report. Adel Hamad is back in Sudan. Over two years after being cleared for transfer, Adel Hamad has finally arrived in Khartoum and was immediately released and allowed to reunite with his family.

January 7th saw the return of MPs to Parliament. It also saw the IWW co-ordinate an international phone blockade. Wobblies chose to celebrate the occasion by sending a message to the Health Minister - Alan Johnson - that cuts to the National Blood Service are not acceptable. Phones were tied up all day as campaigners and supporters from as far afield as Poland, Canada, and the United States, as well as hundreds from around the UK, took part. Saturday 12th January 2008- West Midlands IWW attended a demonstration in front of the council house against Birmingham City Councils intended ‘re-structure’. We felt that our feelings had to be expressed about the council’s proposed plans – Birmingham has a SHITTY council!

My Special Branch friends
Like the many times I have travelled through a UK airport over the last two years (see the first and second times), yesterday too I had a Special Branch officer picking me from the passengers crowd at Birmingham Airport to ask me some 'very important' questions; important to the 'security' of this country and all the 'free' countries in the world. Sometimes I pass through quietly; at others with a few routine questions. But occasionally, especially when it's a new airport or a new officer in charge, I get stopped and questioned for up to an hour.. only to practice in how many different ways I can say "No comment"!
Support Repatriation of Noel Maguire Irish Political Prisoner
I wish through your media outlet to bring attention to a grave injustice being perpetrated against an Irish Citizen by his own government, Noel Maguire is seeking repatriation back to Ireland from an English jail to serve the remainder of his sentence in the country of his birth and to be closer to his family. The refusal by the Irish government in accepting Noel’s application seems to be stripping him of his Irish Citizenship and the civil rights that are associated with it.

After the US government declared war on Afghanistan, hundreds of people were kidnapped by the Northern Alliance and US military forces under "suspicion" of fighting for the Taliban. What was carefully hidden were the leaflets distributed among mainly Northern Alliance fighters and tribal leaders which encouraged them to kidnap anyone they suspected of fighting.. for a $20,000 dollar reward. The Independent: Iraq death rate belies US claims of success
The Independent today published an article by Kim Sengupta about a new report by Iraq Body Count (IBC), which concluded that the death rate in Iraq in the past 12 months has been the second highest in any year since the invasion, which contradicts American claims that the "troop surge" has "dramatically reduced" the level of violence across the country.
Israeli army develops a new killing bulldozer
The Israel Defense Force (IDF) has developed a tiny bulldozer for combat operations inside Palestinian cities, according to Bamahaneh, an Israeli military weekly. The tiny, olive-coloured machine, called "Lioness", is designed for rumbling down narrow roads and paths in the closer quarters of Palestinian cities but the main innovation, besides its small size, is a firing post for the driver.
