Self-Serving

Each country has got its own Berlusconis, Blairs, Bushes or Popes. It is a kind of globalization thing and Blair may seem to have exaggerated recently in France whilst speaking about the current political situation. In reality he was just making another of his speeches on the "third-way" and that which he has really not been able to do; bring peace. Instead he has been able only to open discontent, the consequences of which he has sought to manage with repressive laws.

Helen & Alistair Itanje Mum & baby were woken up at 6.00am on Friday 8th February by a immigration 'snatch' squad banging on their door They were quickly removed from their home and taken to Yarl's Wood IRC, where they are now and due to be forcibly removed on Thursday 14th February 2008 on Brussels Airlines flight SN2050 at 06:30 from Birmingham Airport to Brussels and onward to Douala Cameroon.

Re Secretary of State for Health Alan Johnson's release on water fluoridation

The DoH refuses to acknowledge extensive evidence that the side effects of fluoridation can be so severe that, were it to be classified as a medicinal product (as EC law demands) then it would instantly be withdrawn from the market. In attempting to remedy a small number of defects in a few children's teeth, this 'remedy' will actually cause damage to all of the teeth of half of the children drinking this quack medicne.

Over 3,000 people gathered yesterday in Victoria Square, Birmingham, in solidarity with thousands of Council workers who were on strike to protest against planned wage cuts. Like many other councils, in their implementation of the national 'single status' agreement, Birmingham City Council is waging a vicious attack on low-paid workers in the name of 'equal pay'.

ICC Public Forum - Birmingham - Sat 23rd Feb

The next public forum of the International Communist Current will be in Birmingham on Saturday 23rd February from 2pm-5pm at the Friends of the Earth Warehouse, 54a Allison Street, Digbeth, Birmingham B5 5TH.

The subject for discussion will be the deepening of the economic crisis. There will be a brief presentation based on the lead article from February issue of World Revolution 'Towards a violent acceleration of the economic crisis' followed by several hours of open discussion. All welcome.

Support the Sequani Six (SOCPA defendants)

A member of Coventry Animal Alliance has written the following appeal, on behalf of the 6 defendants currently on trial(at Birmingham Crown Court) for taking part in peaceful protests outside Sequani, an animal testing lab in Ledbury. This was originally written primarily for the attention of animal rights groups, but it is of equal relevance to any group or individual who has an interest in justice.

Parole Denied To Samar And Jawad

Samar Alami & Jawad Botmeh Jawad’s parole hearing took place on Monday 17 September 2007. Samar’s parole hearing took place on Wednesday 19 September 2007. Jawad’s application was turned down on Monday 24th of September, and Samar’s on Wednesday 26 September 2007. The legal team has lodged an appeal against this terrible injustice.
