'Not An Eviction Party' at the secret social centre

Today, the backup venue for the rampART social centre faced a court hearing as the owners sought an interim possession order which would have seen the occupiers given just 24 hours to pack up and leave. However, as luck would have it, only the squatters turned up to court so the case was adjourned. No eviction tomorrow and we guess not for at least another week... Read more >>

Picket Foxtons In Islington Monday 3rd March

Estate agents are destroying communities. They are destroying London.

Foxtons, one of the most visible (and most unpleasant) will be picketed as part of a week of action against estate agents.

Lets stop moaning about housing issues, and begin to act! The sooner we stop the likes of Foxtons from operating in our communities, the sooner an affordable London could be built.

Indymedia screening tonight

When Mexican paramilitary forces shot Brad Will in the chest, killing him, his camera fell from his hands. But it didn't stop recording. It continued moving from hand to hand. Brad's camera paints us a picture of what his life was about, and what so many of his friends continue to struggle for.

Tonight at the rampART there is a screening and discussion with the film maker and indymedia activist from south america. Read more >>

rampART social centre still hanging in there

Seems many people seem to think rampART has closed. IT HAS NOT !

The legal process is still ticking along with a decision expected soon on whether we can have an appeal hearing. In the meantime it is not possible for the 'owner' to get a warrant of possesion so there is no immediate threat of eviction.

We'd like to remind people that the space is still available for events etc and that we have a backup space should eviction interfere with peoples plans. However, keeping two spaces open has been a major drain on everyone involved and the rampART itself is not getting the attention it deserves for the last few weeks.

Update on struggle to keep the rampART social centre

On the 3rd of January, a possession order was granted to the alleged owners of the squatted properties in Rampart Street however the occupiers have not left and have submitted an appeal against the possession ruling that was made in the county court on the 20th of December. A date has not yet been set for the appeal hearing and the appeal application also contained a request to postpone any warrant for possession which would allow the owners call the bailiffs in.
