ESF rejects democracy for TU cash

In mid November, my partner Loppy and I were approached by Oli of Manchester Social Forum as we passed through the Metropolitan Police and Special Branch welcoming committee at Waterloo Station which greeted our return from the Paris ESF. Over a cup of coffee in the station concourse we became willing recruits to the efforts to democratise the ESF, and to broaden its focus to include a proper recognition of Green issues. Read more >>

The ESF soap opera continues

The London organising process has been a battle ground of different world views and organising techniques. The ESF process was brought to the UK by a small un-representative group, who then finding that they couldn’t, contradictable, keep control of the ESF in line with the principals that underline it closed the process to all but this small group by traditional authoritarian hard left strategies. In doing this they nearly destroyed the London ESF, it was only saved at the Europe wide meeting when they completely backed down and let lose all the techniques of exclusion that they had built up on paper. Though this paper change has not yet grown into an open cultural change. Read more >>

Hackney flats not evicted

Most of the flats on estates in the kingsland area have not been evicted, and the situation has calmed down. Some unoccupied places have been smashed & boarded up by the council - I don't know whether any of these are squatters' homes, and the police say they have evicted some crack & smack houses. The council now say they will issue possesion proceedings through the courts, although they may try more DIY evictions in the comming days, especially if any flats are left unocupied. Read more >>

The water rats report! ESF EXCLUSIVE

Today the SWP used different people to speak at the 2nd European meeting to organises the London ESF. The green party deputy mare spoke but didn’t say anything – just like a politician. Finally, maybe we may perhaps might start thinking about the process… the was a secret smocked filled room were a real deal was done? Except this was the ESF so it was a light open room with lots of people looking on that did the deal… which maybe possibly could perhaps make the London ESF fulfil the principals of the Social forum movement. Please don’t be put off from participating because maybe, possibly, the is a chances the sects that fail to run the show maybe have noticed that they are not as essential as they always insisted.
