FREE? WHY?

Almost everyday (except when it has been raining or threatening to rain) there has been a publically accessable freeshop placed on the pavement outside the rampART. Consisting of a clothes rail, shelfs and a couple of boxes, the freeshop contains mostly clothes, shoes, bags and books. The following text is a modified version of an essay about freeshops taken from Eurodusnie (see  http://squat.net/eurodusnie/english/shop.htm). We plan to produce a leaflet from this text to be placed with the freeshop. We've made the text none project specific so that it could be used at other projects.

Please feel free to comment on the text and discuss the concept further, as we would like to improve the text before goin ahead and producing the leaflet. Read more >>

art matters - exhibitions at rampART

The rampART creative centre and social space is a block of squatted buildings in East London. The space is not intended as an exclusive hang out for 'alternatives' but hopes to enage the wider community into the events, activities and involvement. Some of the activities taking place include skipped food cafe evenings, open access free shop, free film screenings, themed info days, political meetings and art exhibitions...

Stonehenge Summer Solstice 2004 Report + Pics

The sun breaking through the shrouding mist
With rain widespread before the solstice and a bad forecast, the number at this year's 'managed access' solstice celebration at Stonehenge (approx 21,000) was down by between one third to one half of the previous year. It still rocked though, and the issues remain as relevant today as they were ten or twenty years ago... Read more >>
