Muslims, it seems, are a problem. No, I should rephrase that. Muslims, it seems, are perhaps the problem of our times. Or at least one might be forgiven for believing that after the last few weeks and months. We've just had Jack Straw, the Leader of the House of Commons, and former Foreign and Home Secretary, tell us that Muslim women who cover the face with a veil or niqab make community relations "more difficult." And this is because, he says, concealing the face is "a visible statement of separation and difference."

The next protest in the series of monthly protests at Dallas Court Reporting Centre, Salford Quays, will be held on Friday 13 October at 12-2pm. People, including women, chidren and victims of rape and torture, are kidnapped daily at Dallas Court and taken to detention centres. Many who escape kidnap also report being racially abused and insulted regularly by racist staff at Dallas Court. NWASDG and Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! (FRFI) urges everyone to attend and to support and publicise these protests against the oppression of asylum seekers by this racist Labour government.

We started on the one of the biggest Moscow streets – Garden ring – and directed our steps towards the Federal migration service that is a part of Ministery of Internal Affairs and in charge of the migration politics in Russia.

The front banner of the demo, behind which there was, amongst others ...
Over 500 people marched in London today as part of the Transnational Day of Action Against Migration Controls. The march was loud, colourful and had a festive atmosphere. But probably, one of the most positive aspects of the demonstration, was the diversity of people and groups that came together to defend the rights of migrant people, for the freedom of movement, against deportations and border controls ... maybe this march signalled the starting point of a new movement here in the UK.
