Disconnecting the police state: Sabotage@Vodafone

29-11-2013 11:48

The night before last night we attacked the electronic communication net in Berlin (Germany). Our act of sabotage took place at a Vodafone radio tower and is meant as a symbol against total surveillance by governments, secret services and transnational corporations. Vodafone was chosen because it is eagerly engaged in cooperating with the british secret service GCHQ. GCHQ cooperates with the american secret service NSA. And NSA in turn cooperates with german secret service BND. Secret services collect patterns of normality and compare particular behaviours in order to find out if you could plan something deviant before you know it yourself. The collaborations of secret service industry and the industry's secret services secure the conditions of profit and power for both of them.

Shame of Camden council vote to ban spontaneous music and to control busking

20-11-2013 21:54

On Monday 11th November, Camden Council voted to introduce a draconian new licensing scheme to tightly control busking and street performance in a controversial move that will likely change the face of the popular tourist destination by introducing a heavy-handed ban on spontaneous music from any public area. The policy is backed up with enforcement fines of up to £1000 and the power to seize and sell musicians’ instruments!

Another squatting case collapses on appeal at Crown Court - defendant acquitted

07-11-2013 09:26

2 million homeless

Resistance to s.144 of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act (LASPO) 2012 that outlaws squatting in residential buildings is growing. Ultimately, the law may prove unworkable and unenforceable.

Ten days ago, squatters occupied a residential council property in Southwark in protest at the sell-off of council houses and the criminalisation of squatting under s.144. Last week, a Brighton squatter was acquitted on appeal as the prosecution failed to prove he was living at the property. His two co-defendants had previously been acquitted on the same charge.

Yesterday, another case collapsed when the Crown Prosecution Service presented no evidence at Mold Crown Court against Tristan Dixon who was appealing his conviction under s.144.

Tristan's supporters set up a protest about homelessness and squatting on the court forecourt, complete with cardboard, sleeping bag, visual statistics about empty homes, teddy bear and a friendly dog on a piece of string. Flyers were offered to everyone entering or leaving the court. The protest proved very timely as no fewer than ten repossession cases were being heard that day in the County Court in the same building, four of them brought by the local Flintshire County Council.

Section 144 appeal successful! Calling Mike Weatherley a coward case continues

01-11-2013 14:25

We won the appeal!!

Brighton: A squatter convicted under s144 had the conviction unanimously overturned for lack of ANY evidence. Our barrister was ninja and the judge laid down some stringent guidelines on what the police must do to establish proof that someone lives in a squat. Unfortunately he refused to define what constitutes residential…

Builders force entry to damage 195 Mare Street – help needed

07-10-2013 14:46

Today at approximately 10:05 a.m. as two of us were returning from scavenging fruit and vegetables a group of about a dozen builders forced entry into the social center. They then proceeded to affix a notice board to the wall declaring that the building was a construction site. We notified them that the property was legally occupied in accordance with the 1977 Criminal Law Act and that they had committed an offence by breaking into the building while it so occupied. Apparently unconcerned that their conduct was illegal, they proceeded to begin gutting the building while we were inside it. They also proceeded to disconnect the buildings water, by cutting the pipe connecting to the water main.
