The British government's threat to invade the Ecuadorean embassy in London and seize Julian Assange is of historic significance. David Cameron, the former PR man to a television industry huckster and arms salesman to sheikdoms, is well placed to dishonour international conventions that have protected Britons in places of upheaval. Just as Tony Blair's invasion of Iraq led directly to the acts of terrorismin London on 7 July 2005, so Cameron and Foreign Secretary William Hague have compromised the safety of British representatives across the world.

Hundreds of supporters of Julian Assange gathered outside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for Julian's first public appearance since taking refuge there and seeking asylum in Ecuador exactly two months ago. Ecuador announced its decision to grant asylum on Thursday, but the British government is petulantly refusing to do what even the most repressive government would do in similar circumstances, namely grant Julian safe passage out of the country.

On Saturday 200 people attended a second protest in memory of Kingsley Burrell who died in Police Custody in March 2011.

A year after the death of Kingsley Burrell no one has been charged and his body has still not been released to his grieving family for burial and a full inquest has yet to be held.

the number of homeless people attending the weekly food distribution
outside the Radision hotel on Holloway circus roundabout. Turnout dropping
from 30-40 people to less than 10 within an week.

The two activists who occupied the roof of G4S' HQ near Crawley for eight hours on 2nd July 2012 (see  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2012/07/497595.html) appeared in court yesterday to plead guilty/not guilty to an 'aggravated trespass' charge under Section 68 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.
