Hungry For A Month

05-01-2007 07:35

Hungry For A Month
For the month of November, I only spent $30 on food. The only exception were things that are freely available to the average person (salt taken from restaurants, sauce packets from Taco Bell, free coffee from an office). Buying in advance was fine, but at the end of the month, it all had to add up to $30 or less.

What Are Green Seniors?

01-01-2007 23:19

Green Seniors have always existed. They are the people who, regardless of age, fight for what they believe. They are the people who see the way that our natural environment is changing for the worse and want to do something about it. They are the people who are a pain in the neck of authority, in fact of anyone and anything that operates in a way that degrades the environment for no good reason.

Earlier this month, a student-run non-profit infoshop celebrated its grand opening at The Evergreen State College (TESC) in Olympia, Washington, USA. Using the guise of a state funded student group, volunteers of The Evergreen Infoshoppe were allotted over $4,000 to purchase radical books, zines, and videos for their lending library and resource center. After only a few weeks of planning, the Infoshoppe now hosts an ever-growing collection in a permanent, centrally located and nearly autonomous location.

Hang Him, hang Him Quick!

27-12-2006 02:15

The puppet judiciary of occupied Iraq today announced that Saddam Hussein would be hanged within 30 days. Saddam is presently being tried for the mass murder of Kurdish villagers but the judiciary insisted that he MUST be executed regardless of any other proceedings. This decision is a ‘just in time’ corporate-style decision – just in time for what the uninformed reader would ask? Just in time to save America from incrimination for supplying the chemical weapons and expertise required to kill the innocent Kurdish villagers – that is the REAL NEWS of the day!

Zombie Day
A zombie walk is an organized public gathering of two or more people who dress up in zombie costumes. The Anarchists' Ball - 3-Sided Football Endcliff Park 30 12 06 12pm

21-12-2006 13:39

Three goals, hexagonal pitches...The rules have changed over the years, but FIFA would have a field day with this lot. Goal shrugs off the shackles of organised leagues and hangs out with the anarchists.

It is unlikely that Luther Blissett is even aware of the fact that he's the inspiration behind three-sided football, a form of the game that 'deconstructs the mythic bipolar structure of conventional football'. But then Watford is not a hotbed of class war and, although it is rumoured that he organised a three-sided football league during his playing days, Blissett probably isn't attending Hackney Anarchist Week in east London. Goal is, however, and it is here that we encounter the Luther Blissett 3-Sided Football League, named after the man himself. The game has been further developed by anarchist group the London Psychogeographical Association (LPA).

Played on an hexagonal pitch between three sides, each defending one goal, the aim is not to score the most goals, but concede the least. Goals are conceded when the ball 'is thrust through a team's orifice', so dissolving 'the homoerotic/homophobic bipolarity of the two-sided game'. Put simply, three-sided football is, ideally, an exercise in co-operative behaviour, with one side persuading another to join in a campaign against the third - thus breaking down the very basis of capitalist organisation - and all before teatime.

Billion Eyes of the Beast

21-12-2006 13:18

On the Web, anyone with a digital camera has the power to change history.
In 1991, when a bystander videotaped the police beating of Rodney King
in Los Angeles, the incident was almost unbelievable‹ not the violence
but the recording of it. Imagine! That four policemen would pummel a
subdued man, and someone would just happen to have a camera! What were
the odds?

Pot Cultivation in Today’s America

21-12-2006 03:48

It’s official, marijuana represents the USA’s most lucrative locally grown product – at $200 billion/annum, corn, wheat and potatoes are chicken feed. While U.S. borders seep various powdered imports it’s good ol’ home grown pot that makes the bankers smile. The USA is drowning in contraband and the negative social ramifications of the neo-PROHIBITION of unenlightened conservative beliefs – when will they ever learn?
