Letter from Paola Gori in prison, Italian Eco-Anarchist

"On the 29th of May 2008 the Italian police raided a number of houses whose occupants are connected to the eco-anarchist group 'Il Silvestre'. The charge against those raided this time is "subversive conspiracy". It is alleged that Il Silvestre activists robbed a post office to help fund their alleged direct action activities and publish their literature. As a result of these latest raids Paola has been remanded into custody.

ALF target farming union offices over badger cull

The Animal Liberation Front (ALF) have sabotaged farming union offices in protest against the Welsh assembly's decision to cull badgers, who are accused of spreading bovine TB, despite dairy cattle raised on intense farms being the culprits.

Daniel McGowan Transferred - Threat of Madison Grand Jury

Wisconsin. The reasoning for his move is unknown, but could be related to

Noise Demo at UK Coal Head Office Protest

UK Coal is about to devastate a beautiful part of the Derbyshire countryside by starting an open cast mine. So ‘Leave it in the Ground’ and Earth First! decided to make some noise over it with people from Derby, Nottingham Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester and Brighton as well as other places, all travelled to UK Coals Head office in Doncaster to make some noise.

Protests against planned agrofuel power plant in Beckton

Beckton protest 4th June
On 31st May and 4th June, banner protests were held against plans to build the UK's first agrofuel power plant in Beckton, London. Around 500 local residents signed a petition against those plans, which was handed to the mayor on 2nd June (with around 100 further signatures having been added since then). The protests were organised by Biofuewatch and the London Food Not Fuel Group.

Statement from Tre Arrow, eco-activist pleading guilty to arson

On the 4th June, a well known American eco-activist, Tre Arrow, pleaded guilty to two counts of arson. In exchange for his Guilty plea Tre is expected to be sentenced to six and a half years imprisonment. However the court will also acknowledge the four years he has already served on remand, in Canada, fighting his extradition to the USA.
