Is the new version of UK Coal, UK Coal Production going to honour the promises that were entered into to enable it to mine coal? This press release gives details of the opencast sites which might not be fully restored should the Company renenge on its promises. In addition, it is suggested that promised community benefits are at risk as well

Entance Of Fracking Site Blocked
Photos of evolving blockade at Cuadrilla Resources fracking site in Balcombe, Sussex. Around 250 people, truck immobilised outside site, seems to have mysteriously developed fault with brakes. Gazebos up, legal briefing for locals, another truck stopped in village. Another 15 more trucks were due today. Now seems unlikely any will get on. Cuadrilla had wanted to be up and drilling by weekend.

UK Coal win the battle but not the war... campaigners fight on

Today (Friday 19th July 2013) it has been announced that UK Coal will be allowed to have a re-run of the Inspector’s inquiry into the bitterly disputed application to mine at Bradley, Co. Durham. Last time round the Inspector's Inquiry took three weeks. Local residents still don't know the fate of the valley they love. Campaigners await new inquiry dates.

Coal companies failing. UK Coal taken over by The PPF

Coal miners and local residents left in the lurch.
Failing coal company UK Coal have been taken over by the Pensions Protection Fund (PPF)in order to prevent miners at the Daw Mill Colliery loosing all of their pensions.
The deal will see miners from Daw Mill loose 20% of their pensions1presumably the bosses wont be loosing their investments.

Sabotage Against Shell’s Pipeline in Erris, Ireland

Yesterday morning around 50 Shell to Sea campaigners kicked off the Week of Action against Shell’s experimental high pressure gas pipe in Erris by tearing up the bog road Shell has laid as part of its attempt to finish the pipeline. They also destroyed the sandbag dam that Shell were attempting to build across part of the estuary in order to be able to work on the pipeline route regardless of the tides. This was accomplished in full view of about 15 security from IRMS – the security company hired by Shell to repress protest.
