Manchester Airport lacked any decent responses to charges made of environmental piracy.
It presented a poignant example in favour of non-violent direct action.

Homeless Polar Bears in Court

Four homeless polar bears appeared before Bristol Magistrates Court on Wednesday 14th November. We were arrested after blockading the Royal Bank of Scotland corporate offices on Avon St. as part of the National Day of local action on 15th October called by Rising Tide. The day of action was to highlight the role of the Royal Bank of Scotland in financing the oil and gas industry resulting in climate chaos throughout the world.

Muhammad Haque praying for the– animals and humans - hit by cyclone

The cyclone that hit the south western coastal regions in Bangladesh early on Friday 16 November 2007 has claimed nearly 1000 people, according to unofficial reports so far.. They are counting the numbers of humans. Many more animals too have perished. But no one is really counting their toll. One of the world’s must precious natural regions housing animals, including tigers, is under threat.

Urgent: National Grid to close Woodhead Tunnel

National Grid, the owners of the Woodhead Tunnel near Longdendale, are to put the Tunnel beyond use in February 2008. Although the Tunnel and attendant railway line have been formally closed for 26 years, they could be resurrected very quickly if cheap, fast, sustainable transport was really important. We must act to stop the closure of the tunnel.

Calling for a multilateral political approach to climate change during the debate on the upcoming climate change talks in Bali*, GUE/NGL Italian MEP and Vice-President of the European Parliament's Climate Change committee, Roberto Musacchio emphasised the role of the UN and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in formulating future strategies to tackle global warming.

around 30 cyclists met at 8.30 this morning for the opening of the new eurostar terminal at st pancras station, london
they were highlighting the poor facilities and planning for bikes in contrast with the much-publicised claims of carbon-neutral travel to paris
the st pancras opening was also targetted by a greenpeace action against the third runway at heathrow
