What will happen to Pegah now?

07-09-2007 15:39

Unfortunately it is easy to read the minds of Gordon Brown and
Jacqui Smith in this moment. They are angry because the problem
of the arbitrary and unjust deportations has come to light.
I hope I'm wrong, but the history of persecution generally repeats
a pattern. I believe the UK Government is once again studying
a way to refuse Pegah asylum...

UK Bangladeshis robbed via 'First Solution' still haven't got their money!

07-09-2007 10:06

We are continuing to the put these Open Questions to Bethnal Green and Bow MP George Galloway because it was his involvement [including his speech on the subject in the House of Commons on 18 July 2007] 'to help the victims' that was used by a number of elements to implement their diversion away from the shoulders of the perpetrators.

We are also doing so because we have not had any response from the offices of G Galloway or answers from anyone that has been claimed by the 'Respect' 'coalition ' to be 'campaigning for the victims'

What the case of Pegah Emambakhsh teaches us

04-09-2007 23:12

The case of Pegah Emambakhsh has revealed that Europe has abandoned a long time ago the road of the respect for human rights. The fear for the fight between the different culture and the suspiciousness towards the others has slowly sunk our civilisation in a cultural and social swamp. People see enemies everywhere. The values of the freedom have been replaced from those - ambiguous and dangerous - of the security.

Leafleting in Soli-hell

04-09-2007 16:49

Leafleting at Sanford House, Solihull
A couple of Birmingham NoBorders activists did some lealfeting today at the immigration reporting centre in Solihull, West Midlands. An 'advice leaflet' and another about Sandford House were handed out to asylum seekers who are forced to go there to 'sign on' every week or every month, along with some literature about the upcoming Gatwich No Border Camp. Copies of the leaflet exposing Sandford House and what really goes on there were also given out to the public in town, many of whom seemed to not give a toss about migrants and their mistreatment at the hands of immigration authorities.

Trial in Agrigento: No to the criminalisation of solidarity

03-09-2007 11:35

Since August 22, 2007, seven Tunisian fishermen have been on trial in Agrigento (Sicily), accused of “assisting illegal immigration”. They risk up to 15 years imprisonment. Prosecuted as human traffickers, what they did was in fact just their basic duty of solidarity: on August 8, near the island of Lampedusa, they picked up 44 passengers from a boat in distress at sea and brought them to the harbour.
Without their intervention the shipwrecked people - including two pregnant women and two children - would propably have suffered the same fate as the thousands of migrants and refugees who in the last years have drowned while trying to reach the European coasts.

The attempt to deport Learco Chindamo

01-09-2007 15:19

Learco Chindamo was 15 years old when he killed headmaster Philip Lawrence outside his London school in 1995. He was sentenced to be “detained at Her Majesty’s pleasure”—the formal judgment pronounced in the most serious juvenile cases as an alternative to handing down a life sentence to a child. He can be considered for parole after serving a tariff (minimum) of 12 years detention, which expires in January 2008 when Chindamo will be 27.
