11-08-2006 11:30In the midst of doom and gloom realizations that the Heathrow 'terror network' is mainly to sideline concerns about the war in Lebanon and head off possible sympathies for the main vicitms in this war, a bright note:
Just as 7/7 pushed more people onto their bikes in London, so too perhaps this farce will help put a few people off flying.
11-08-2006 10:44Yawn! Even if I wasn't actually tired, that would still be my response to the latest "terror alert" from the UK government office of Machiavellian nonsense. I mean, seriously, at what point do people start to smell a rat? Is the mass mind of the British public destined to be forever child-like and easily scared, or does the threat of the boogeyman eventually wear off? I mean, how many times can you arrest a group of patsies and claim that they were planning to attack the British public before people begin to wonder if you are just making it up?
11-08-2006 05:37The claim that American and British security forces have thwarted a terrorist plot to blow up commercial flights between Britain and the United States should not be accepted uncritically. It is impossible to determine at this point whether or not such an attack was in the offing, although the mass media have, as usual, reported the assertions of the British and American governments as indisputable fact, without bothering to ask for any specific information that would substantiate the official story.
10-08-2006 18:58Unable to window dress the obvious failure to eradicate growing resistance in Lebanon, Iraq, and Afghanistan—even with the mighty propaganda power of a complaisant media—the neocon intelligence apparatus has staged yet another terrorist event, or would be terrorist event.
10-08-2006 17:54This afternoon, police have announced that are searching homes and businesses across the UK in connection with a plot to blow up planes from the UK to US. This appears to have been timed to coincide with the Home Secretary's demand that we "modify some of our freedoms". Or maybe Reid's speech was timed to coincide with the police announcement. Either way, the intention is the same - to attack the working class.
08-08-2006 15:51This RAF base is being used to refuel American transport aircraft taking weapons to Israel for use in Lebanon. This is active military support for Israel by the British government, three protests and a peace camp are already planned in response.
01-08-2006 11:53Britain's positioning on the Israeli side by helping the sifting of bombs from the US has made us all participants in the murder of Lebanon’s children, in a clear act of terror on innocent civilians. Thank you New Labour for making me a terrorist.
01-08-2006 11:28Today the new UK terror threat levels were launched:

19-07-2006 23:24Israel’s brutal bombing of Lebanon and the Gaza has illustrated yet again peace in the Middle East is an illusion and war on terror generates only more terror. Israel’s hard line policy has a history of being ineffective as a solution and its strong arm tactics only lead to more violence in a region where blood calls for more blood and power cliques on both sides feed off the victims.

13-07-2006 23:30This is the transcript of a public address by Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed, author of The London Bombings: An Independent Inquiry (Duckworth, 2006) at the first parliamentary meeting calling for an independent public inquiry into the 7/7 terrorist attacks. The meeting was held in the House of Lords, 12th July 2006, chaired by Lord Rea. The event was sponsored by CAMPACC (www.campacc.org.uk) and supported by London Metropolitan University's Human Rights and Social Justice Research Institute, Stop Political Terror, and several other campaign groups. Panelists included 7/7 survivor Rachel North, antiwar activist and author Milan Rai, international lawyer Professor Bill Bowring, among others. Also participating were 7/7 survivors Holly Finch and John Tulloch. In this address, Nafeez Ahmed, who teaches international relations at Sussex University, explores the reasons why an independent public inquiry is needed, and also explains why the government doesn't want one.
