Imagine tens of thousands of Britons had been killed, and millions had fled as refugees. This is how the Chinese state broadcaster might report the invasion ten years hence:
'It's ten years this week since Chinese forces first became involved in Britain, and more than five years since they assumed responsibility for south-east England. So what's been achieved in that time?'

10-10-2011 12:09Friday 7th October 2011 marked the tenth anniversary of the start of the current NATO-led war in Afghanistan. As well as leading to the death of thousands of civilians and soldiers, the war in Afghanistan is also the birthplace of one of the lesser known aspects of the so-called "war on terror": the torture and arbitrary detention of thousands of prisoners of all ages and nationalities.

06-10-2011 12:40Friday 7th October marks the 10th anniversary of the start of the war in Afghanistan on 7th October 2001. Before there was Guantánamo, there were black sites and torture prisons in Afghanistan where such practices continue to be carried out today. Nearly all the prisoners held at Guantánamo had been "processed" and held at the prisons at the Bagram Air Base, Kandahar and the Dark Prison in Kabul before being taken to Guantánamo Bay.
