Tomorrow there is a march in London (and also in Glasgow) starting at 11am from the Royal College of Physicians. This is to protest against the farce that has been unfolding the past few months related to junior doctors' training which is likely to see between 8-15 thousand doctors unemployed come the beginning of August.

Remember Carlo Giuliani - Killed by Italian police at G8 Demo 2001

Carlo Giuliani was shot and killed by a carabinieri (Italian policeman) whilst he was taking part in an anti-globalisation demonstration in connection with the G8 summit held in Genoa in 2001.

His family complained to the European Court of Human Rights; relying on Article 2 (right to life) of the European Convention on Human Rights, that Carlo’s death was caused by excessive use of force and that the organisation of the operations to maintain and restore public order was inadequate.

Various meetings are being arranged for next week to discuss new legal developments for asylum seekers from the Congo. Plus the Scottish African and Carribean Network have organised meetings of some women activists from Zimbabwe in Glasgow on Tuesday and in Edinburgh on Wednesday. More details to follow.
