G8 UK NGO Campaign 'Your Voice Against Poverty' (london demo june 2nd)

After the Make Poverty History 2005 Scotland G8 campaign the uk NGOs are calling on people to protest in london on June 2nd ahead of the G8 summit in Germany.

 http://www.yourvoiceagainstpoverty.org.uk

Meanwhile in Germany planning continues for massive protests and blockades of the summit. German NGOs have challenged the G8 on having done too little to meet the promises they made on poverty alleviation at the Gleneagles summit in 2005. This year's G8 falls mid-way in the period for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and it's clear that countries are also a long way off from achieving these goals.

Co-mutiny community gardening

Fancy a bit of co-mutiny community gardening this sunday? Down in deepest darkest Whitechapel (east London), an amazing thing is starting to happen. A formerly disused and abused piece of land has been reclaimed and is starting to be turned into a garden, with the aim of having a place where people can interact with, take care of and just gain a greater understanding and respect for nature.

Photos - Oil Spill to save wildlife ?

Shortly after midday on Saturday the 3rd Feb, environmental activists defaced a Shell Oil sponsored photo exhibition and called on the Natural History Museum to drop it's greenwashing deal with the oil giant.

While a banner was dropped in the main hall and 600 leaflets handed out to members of the public, an oil like substance was sprayed over the wildlife photos in the Shell sponsored exhibition. There were a large number of security personnel present and some of the protesters were assaulted by panicking museum staff and members of the public but there were no arrests.

The action follows the publication of Shell's 2006 record breaking financial figures and the release of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change fourth report which yet again suggests that climate change is happening faster then previously predicted.
