Four East Anglian peace activists were yesterday found guilty of criminal damage to the perimeter fence of RAF/USAF Lakenheath. They had cut a hole in order to gain access to the base and carry out a weapons inspection, to get photographic evidence of the nuclear weapons facilities in October 2003.

The policy of preventive war has brought only chaos and disaster. The failure of this policy of Washington and its allies can be referred back to two fundamental errors. The first concerns the basic assumption that terrorism is the real sickness while it is the symptom of an evil. The second error is in overrating military weapons.

European Nuclear Weapons Free Zone workshop

The White House has announced (news, wire services) that the U.S. will pay to have Abu Ghraib prison demolished and replaced with a new maximum security prison, and in addition will construct an entire system of new state of the art prisons throughout Iraq.
