02-09-2011 17:17In the five years since the Mexican government declared the “War on Drug Trafficking” at least 40,000 people have been killed, countless tens of thousands have been kidnapped and entire towns and neighbourhoods have been depopulated. Mexico's conflict is the deadliest in the Western Hemisphere, and is the most dangerous place in the world for journalists.
As is the case with so many issues, people tend to stand strong and argue a position or voice an opinion about an event like 9/11. But, when questioned about the many details surrounding that event they have no answers. They are clueless. And they are, in the end, dumbfounded.
The term "conspiracy theorist", perhaps the most misapplied description in our vernacular, is often used to describe 9/11 truthers. Perhaps that term does apply to a segment of the 9/11 truth movement. But in most cases a more accurate description of 9/11 truthers is probably "expert", or "scholar", or "researcher."

30-08-2011 13:18Maikel Nabil Sanad, the imprisoned pacifist blogger and conscientious objector sentenced to three years' imprisonment for "insulting the military" on 10 April 2011 (see co-alert, 11 April 2011), began a hunger strike in protest against his continued imprisonment on Tuesday, 23 August 2011 (see co-alert, 24 August 2011). He was moved to solitary confinement on 25 August 2011, but the prison authorities refuse to transfer him to the prison hospital (see co-alert, 25 August 2011). Since today, 30 August, he is also refusing to drink, therefore escalating the hunger strike to a hunger and thirst strike.
