Pauline Campbell Not Guilty

Around 15 protesters demonstrated in the morning to support Pauline Cambell and protest at the attempts to criminalise her for highlighting deaths at the hand of the State. The case finally concluded in the early evening with a not guilty verdict. The attempt to criminalise a grieving mother had failed.

Force feeding stunt exposes Selfridges

Seated at a well-set dinner table near the entrance to Selfridges, an elegantly dressed woman was "force-fed" through a funnel by a man who was dressed as a waiter. This was the scene that made hundreds of shoppers stop and stare, yesterday(25-9-07) in Birmingham City Centre. The aim was simply to expose and shame Selfridges for their sale of foie gras - torture in a tin!!

Another woman prisoner dies in HMP Send.

Another demo following another death at HMP Send.
Lisa Doe aged 25 died in HMP Send on September 11th. Like the previous death of Emma Kelly in Send last April, Lisa was also on so called 'Suicide Watch'. At her trial two forensic psychologists said Lisa had a 'brain abnormality'. The demonstrators outside Send on Thursday insist that Lisa should have been in some kind of hospital rather than a prison.

Her aunt and cousin arrived to lay flowers and pay their respects.

Bereaved mother Pauline Campbell blocked a prison van taking a prisoner into the prison. She has done this many times before. The Police arrived and eventually she was persuaded to let the van proceed. She usually sticks it out until she is arrested but on this occasion it was not convenient.

Taking part in the NoBorders camp near Gatwick, this short piece reflects on two assaults, one robbery and a security alert all witnessed within the space of two short, but exciting hours as a trainee Legal Observer for the camp's action in Crawley town centre, raising awareness. Forget being a special copper, try legal observing. It's far better, and you get to choose your own notebook.

In recent months the site of the Cre8 / Walter Morrison Memorial Garden in south Glasgow has been fenced off, concreted over and torn up. Last Saturday an "Open Day" was held there by the archaeological firm currently working on site.

Comedy benefit raises £40,000 for CAAT

Hammersmith Apollo last night hosted a comedy benefit, "A Seriously Funny Attempt to the get the Serious Fraud Office in the dock!" The proceeds from the gig, featuring comics including Mark Steel, Omid Djalili and Russell Brand will go to help fund the Campaign Against the Arms Trade's (CAAT) judicial review to restart the SFO's prosecution of BAe Systems' for alleged illegal bribery of Saudi ministers.

Report: Tyneside March in Solidarity Against Immigration Prisons

On 22nd September Tyneside Community Action for Refugees organised a march from the West End to the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, in solidarity with the international day of actions against immigration prions called by the No Borders network, which in Britain centred on a march against the building of another detention centre near Gatwick airport.

Tinsley House Immigration Removal Centre at Gatwick, was the first purpose-built detention centre in the UK. It was opened in 1996 and has a capacity of 135 people, including families and children, with 11,000 detainees going through it each year.
