Anti-Coal Protesters Blockade Washington Power Station

Thousands of demonstrators braved icy winds and snow to march on the US capitol's coal-fired power plant on Monday to demand a more sane approach to energy policy. Organized by Capitol Climate Action thousand blockade the five main gates to the Capitol Power Plant in southeast Washington, not far from Capitol Hill.

Plane Stupid Scotland shuts Aberdeen airport

3rd March - Nine young protesters from the climate action group Plane Stupid Scotland have this morning shut down Aberdeen airport by setting up a golf course on the taxiway. They have surrounded themselves with fortified security fencing whilst another group are occupying the roof of the terminal building and have unfurled a banner reading, “Nae Trump Games with Climate Change”.

Students Seek to End York University Arms Trade Investments

Over 150 students took part in a loud and vibrant protest across the University of York's campus on Friday of last week, demanding that the institution divest itself of shares in arms companies, specifically BAE systems and Rolls Royce. Carrying colourful placards and banging pots, pans and a dustbin, the group made their way to Heslington Hall to present a petition and demand an audience with officials.

on friday afternoon, brian haw and others saved the life of a tamil protester who set himself alight in parliament square. a police sergeant who saw cctv footage of the incident told them they would be receiving a letter of commendation for saving life and limb. on sunday morning, the same sergeant arrived at 9am to perform an unlawful search of the tents - using force and intimidation against the peace protesters.

Home Secretary ignores Court decision, kidnaps bailed men and imprisons them in Belmarsh

The Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, appears to have declared war on the government’s own secret terror court, overruling decisions made by judges in the Special Immigration Appeals Court (SIAC) yesterday, and — in what can only be described as an act of executive fiat — unilaterally revoking their bail, kidnapping them on their way home from the London courtroom (or in raids on their homes) and imprisoning them in Belmarsh high-security prison in south east London.
