BNP activists threaten community arts group in Coalville

20-01-2006 21:05

The annual community lantern festival in Coalville, Leicestershire was moved from just before christmas to coincide with the Chinese New Year celebrations this year. Members from the far-right British National Party (BNP) think that because of the 'removal of Christian symbolism and tradition from Christmas' it needs them to 'once again save another British tradition'.

Ever since the rescheduling of the event was announced, local members of the BNP have threatened the organisers of the community run event. Verbal abuse from people ringing up the group has become a daily occurance since the BNP posted the contact details on their website. The BNP, who claim to be the 'law and order party' recently published another article on their website inciting criminal damage, calling on people to protest the usage of the words 'white trash' in a recent episode of the TV soap serie Coronation Street. A prominent member of the party in Lincoln recently appeared in court for multiple counts of arson and criminal damage. Read article.

Griffin in court.

19-01-2006 21:19

The BNP, outnumbered by their Police protectors.
Before going any further it should (in the interests of accurate journalism) be made clear that there is no evidence to suggest that Mark Collett (Nick Griffins co-defendant) is anything but heterosexual. The fact that he spent much of his famous BBC documentary stripped to the waste doing weights and generally posing for the camera in a homoerotic way proves nothing. It must also be added that Collet being spotted by an anti-fascists mincing around ‘like Quentin Crisp’ is equally inconclusive.

Anyway now that is cleared up, Monday saw the beginning of the trial for ‘incitement to racial hatred’ of BNP leader Nick Griffin and his (not Gay) sidekick Mark Collet. For many it was like Groundhog Day in Leeds with an identical number of Nazis and Antifascists as last time. The Police operation was also breathtakingly similar to the last one with even the same FIT clowns from the MET being sent up to waste everybodys taxes. The weather was also the same as were the chants, placards, faces and politics. If you read the review of the previous demo:
 http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2005/11/327189.html
Then you may as well stop here, as there are no new revelations other than the confirmation that Mark Collett does it with girls and definitely not boys or sheep.

Defendants in UK criminal court case to be joined by Israeli academic Uri
Davis in the call for an economic boycott of apartheid Israel.
_____________________________________________________________

Seven Palestine solidarity protesters from London and Brighton were
arrested on 11th November 2004 after they took part in a non-violent
blockade outside the UK base of an Israeli agricultural export company
Agrexco (UK) Ltd, Swallowfield Way, Hayes, Middlesex.

Agrexco is Israel’s largest importer of agricultural produce into the
European Union, and it is 50% Israeli state owned. It imports produce from
illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

The protestors will face trial at Uxbridge Magistrates Court, between the
23rd-31st January 2006. They are each charged with two offences
under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. Section 68:
(Aggravated Trespass) and Section 69: (Failure To Leave Land). The defence
team will be advised by Palestinian QC Michel Abdel Massih of Tooks
Chambers.

The protesters will argue as a defence that they were acting to prevent
crimes against international law, that are also offences in the UK under
the International Criminal Court Act. The defendants will argue that these
offences are being supported by Agrexco (UK) .
