DFEY-NW (Digital Freedom in Education and Youth) is a group formed in response from a growing need in the Northwest of England for a group to encourage and promote young people's involvement with the free software community by creating a social space to make it more comfortable for young people to get involved with GLUGs and FSUGs.

I would have also commented on the shallow input the major unions afford these kinds of initiatives (regardless of party fronts or hijacks) But I’d be here till Christmas so take it as read
07-04-2009 10:09I was recently invited to be part of a really exciting new project in Nottingham. The idea results from people’s thoughts on what education is about and should be about, from reflection on our own educational backgrounds, and views about recent events at the University of Nottingham. Some initial ideas have been worked on, and these are some thoughts resulting from meeting on 26/3/09… They are just my own recollections but this might be a useful forum to mull ideas over in…. Please get involved!

Wednesday, April 1st and Thursday, April 2nd, staff and students have
launched a petition to keep the university open, arguing that they

education in times of crisis such as these."
