Kyoto March and Dinosaur Party in Edinburgh

Around about a fifty people joined the Kyoto March and Dinosaur Party in Edinburgh today, 15th of may. Starting at the Russian embassy at about 11 am, via Princes and Rose Street furry and fluffy dinosaurs were accompanied by "George Bush" with drums and slogans: SWhat do we want: Sign Kyoto! When do we want it: Now; as well as "1-2-3-4 we don't want your fossil war!" . Longer article will hopefully follow here soon -here are pictures and the original call for action.

The students "occupy" the university on friday 7 may. The police enters and throws teargass , drops people out of the windows and arrests a lot of them. The students were protesting for issues of democracy .

WITS students arrested today!

At least six Wits University students have been arrested this morning as
part of the South African police's response to a spontaneous students
uprising which broke out on Monday as a result of a decision by the
university management to cut financial aid by half.

UWIC mistreats staff, issues false statement to press

Students in the School of Art & Design at the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff have lost their tutors due to a funding crisis. UWIC has tried to cover this up by issuing a false statement to the press. Students and junior staff have reported numerous incidents of harassment and intimidation in the School, both prior to and in the aftermath of this affair.

On 10th April, 50 young people set out on the 40 mile march to Aldermaston Atomic Weapons Establishment. The march, organised by Youth & Student CND, was to protest against Britain's nuclear weapons.

University of Leeds Reverses Policy on Nestle

In February this year staff at the University of Leeds were told that they should use Nestle Watercoolers unless they had a specific reason not to. Enquiries were made to see if ethical concerns about Nestle would be considered a vaild reason not to use Nestle, but staff were told that this would not be considered a valid reason.
