07-07-2008 14:46A 'green' councillor in Oxford encouraged police to arrest two people on false charges merely for insisting on their rights to access the local community centre, a space which both of them have worked hard as volunteers to support and develop. There is an ongoing story of Cllr Mary-Jane Sareva trying to extend her control over the centre.

03-07-2008 21:21At 7am this morning the anarchist social centre at 88 London Road, Brighton was forcibly evicted, despite resistance. The Victorian church had been occupied since the Squatting Days of Action in April. The space was intialy opened as part of a two day international event, committed to creating autonumous spaces and highlighting the importance of squatting and global networking.

01-07-2008 11:37After losing the case on 12th June there is no news of bailiffs or eviction as yet so events are still going down. Last week saw post critical mass ping-pong raising a bit of money for london social centres and a discussion about ROG social centre in Ljubljana, Slovenia....
Following the killing of Marie Vesco on the A23 her friends, rampART and Food Not Bombs asked people to ride to Brixton, where she served free food every Sunday afternoon with Brixton Food Not Bombs.
