01-08-2008 12:31Last night the council met to consider Tesco's planning application for their proposed Mill Road store. The meeting was packed, and while most councillors abstained, none voted for it, leaving the votes of the new Green councillor and one Lib Dem to reject the proposal on grounds including noise and traffic. Tesco proceeded to evict the Mill Road Social Centre who had squatted the site, despite saying they could stay until work could begin.
01-08-2008 09:48The filth are living up to their various names by being total dicks as usual and confiscating (stealing is probably more a accurate term) various items from people attending camp. You might of heard about the raid on the camp yesterday where police took away items such as board games and crayons, along with attempting to deprive the camp of essential materials such as plumbing and construction timber. However, even before the raid the filth were stealing stuff from those arriving.
01-08-2008 08:51On Friday morning around 9AM, police and bailiffs kicked down the door to the social centre and started evicting people from the premises. No advance warning was given. It goes to show that Tesco can never be trusted, as they reneged on their promise not to take possession of the building before they needed to start building.

Wembley Park Station (the N18 runs past Sudbury. Get off at Wembley
triangle from which Bridge Road is a 15 minute walk past Wembley Arena).

The caravan stopped at the Synergy Centre, near Oval in London. Around 30-50 people watched a film about sustainability in Cuba, on a cycle-powered cinema. Afterwards there was a Q+A session with climate camp staff, London councillors and other green - thinkers.
30-07-2008 19:48Line of police 400 metres long with dogs and vans cleared 200 black teens, a few with water pistols, from hyde park at 6:30. At one point a cop used a taser on one of the teens. Several others were manhandled andthere seemedeto be over 10 arrests.
