East Mids Anti-fascists: October report

02-11-2012 10:55

It's been a month dominated by a battle between Boston bigots: Dean Everitt's anti-immigration demo vs. Elliott Fountain's hard right police commissioner bid. It's not been good for the EDL who've been hacked, stabbed in the back and caught out inciting riots and running community organisations into the ground. And meanwhile the BNP have been praising Jimmy Savile.

The month started with a bang for Leicester EDL's Glen Warren, whose 'Let's Make Britain Great Again' Facebook page was hacked and used to slag him off. Some EDL angels joined in calling Glen a "sick cunt" and a "sexist, racist pig who deserves everything he gets".

Nottingham BNP couldn't stem the verbal diarrhoea on their Twitter account urging their supporters not to vote for the "darkie" in the PCC elections and supporting paedophile Jimmy Savile.

In Lincolnshire, Dean Everitt finally got round to calling his anti-immigration demonstration (inviting various BNP, EDL and other far right organisers), which received unanimous abuse in the local paper. "When will Everitt learn that his mob will solve and change nothing!" read one typical comment. Since then he has been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage which has not inspired confidence in his followers, some of whom have called for the march to be cancelled. The demonstration will take place on Sun 18th Nov at the Herbert Ingram memorial.

English Democrat, Elliott Fountain, launched his campaign for Lincolnshire Police & Crime Commissioner with a host of right wing policies on crime including "throwing tenants out of houses faster". We exposed the fact that he was a supporter of Golden Dawn, approved of the EDL's attacks on the police in Walsall and held vile anti-Muslim views. Amusingly, for a man who has publicly said he will target drug users his Facebook page is also littered with references to his own drug taking. Fountain later tried to engage with these criticisms by digging himself even further into a hole.

The real comedy gold came when Everitt and Fountain had a very public punch up after Fountain slagged off Everitt's anti-immigration protest as pointless. Everitt responded by saying that Fountain "now wants to be lincolnshires police commissioner lets just put the crooks in charge of the establishment" and accusing him of "FLOOD[ing] US WITH MIGRANT LABOUR". Fountain's friends published a recorded phonecall from Everitt threatening violence and then called him a "racist thug" and "a puppet who strings were being pulled".

The EDL staged their latest massive disappointing flop of a demo in London. In the run-up Nottingham EDL were stupid enough to try to incite a riot of Twitter.

Meanwhile the knives were out for former EDL leader and Nottingham resident, Guramit Singh. Casuals United called him a "scummy man" with a "nasty plan" and a cunt because he was refusing to pay his debts to a "respected lad". Others on the thread called him a grass who "helped ruin a street movement and told a lot of porkies" and a "wrongun".

Leicester Casuals United were spreading false rumours as usual. This time they were trying to whip up a street army to defend a poppy seller from imaginary "Scum Muslims". They later admitted it had all been made up but not before their fans had foamed at the mouth about a "Pack of wild dogs" that need to be "PUT DOWN".

Finally we reported on how the EDL had successfully managed to hijack the Forgotten Estates campaign on the Thurnby Lodge estate in Leicester. This is the campaign against the city council's decision to give an abandoned scout hut to a Muslim group for use as a community centre. It turns out that the leader of the group is an EDL activist called Chris Hopewell and that the EDL's Leicester leader, Craig Elliott, is involved as well. But things aren't going well for this EDL front group which, according to a supporter, has turned from a spectacularly popular group to a pitiful handful.

02-11-2012 08:15

The Loose Anti Opencast Network is calling on the Government to align Planning Policy with Energy Policy after discovering that it is the Government's intention to phase out the use of coal for power generation purposes, leading to a 75% decline in the use of coal for such a purpose over the next 10 years. At the same time, through provisions in the Growth and Infrastructure Bill it is possibly making it easier to dig the coal out!

Scotland the Corrupt

What next for anti-fascism after the 'return to Walthamstow'?

31-10-2012 16:07

This Saturday's attempt by the English Defence League to return to Walthamstow marked another chapter in the decline in fortunes of the organisation. Time was when they could get 3000 to a national demo. Now they only managed 60. After a previous national demo at Walthamstow where 300ish EDL were outnumbered by a couple of thousand opposition, leader 'Tommy Robinson' (Stephen Yaxley-Lennon to his mother) announced there would be a return to Walthamstow. A strange strategy... what made him think that re-running the whole thing two months later would change the result is mysterious.

Texas Police Sniper Guns Down Immigrants

31-10-2012 10:49

Welcome to America: Texas Police Sniper Guns Down Immigrants From Helicopter ....... Remember a few months ago how a DEA helicopter was used to gun down two pregnant women and two 14-yr-old boys in Honduras because they were "suspected" of being drug dealers? Well, those same tactics are now being used in America. After being pulled over for having a suspect "covered truck bed," a vehicle which fled from Texas game wardens was shot at by Texas "Department of Public Safety" agents with a sniper rifle from a helicopter.
