North West Aerosols Ltd On Trial For Killing Worker

The Aintree-based company North West Aerosols Ltd was put on trial today at Liverpool Crown Court. The company is charged with two breaches of the Health and Safety At Work Act, after an accident at the factory on 13th December 2005, when one of their workers, Chris Knoop, was burned to death. His co-workers Kevin Armstrong, Gary Ryan and Graham Ryder, spent 10 days in hospital.

Demand the release of Hicham Yezza

The planned June 1 deportation of University of Nottingham staff member Hicham Yezza was cancelled on May 30. The change was necessitated by an application to the High Court that same day, seeking a judicial review of the Home Office’s decision.

Fuel price protests spread across Europe

Growing anger over soaring fuel prices has prompted a wave of strikes and demonstrations across Europe that is fast becoming a major political crisis for the European bourgeoisie. After fishermen in France went on strike, their counterparts in Portugal, Spain, and Italy began indefinite nationwide work stoppages on May 30 to protest against soaring oil prices. Truck drivers, farmers, taxi drivers and ambulance workers across the continent also staged protests.

Action needed to halt deportation of mother and son to Ethiopia this Wednesday

In the early hours of Friday morning TCAR member Ayisha Abeli was snatched from her home together with her three year old son. They are currently being held in Yarls Wood detention centre, and have been told they will be deported to Ethiopia on Wednesday 4th June at 9pm.

Solidarity week against repression in France at June, 9-16

Ivan, Bruno and Damien got arrested on January 19, 2008 on the way to the demonstration against the detention centre of Vincennes (near Paris). They were carrying home made smoke powder and bent nails (to slash tyres). At the police station, they refused the finger print identification and DNA taking. Ivan and Bruno are jailed, Damien is under judiciary control.

Supporters were pleased to hear today that Hicham Yezza won't be deported on Sunday. This doesn't mean the struggle is over, far from it, but he is no longer at risk of imminent removal.
