The timing was way too convenient - just days to weeks before crucial votes on Bush's sweeping energy plan and Clear Skies Initiative - both designed to dramatically overempower and expand the fossil-fuel-driven electrical power generating industry. Afterall, if the 9/11 disaster got G.W. the Patriot Acts, why shouldn't a massive power outage get him "Energy Acts"?

14-08-2003 09:44Early release of automatic website which parses the online Hansard for the votes made by the local MPs. This strips out the hot air (speeches) and looks straight at the exercise in power: the votes themselves. There are plenty of surprises. We are looking for advice to make this website useful to the wider community before doing the real publicity.

BBC had correctly reported Kelly was high-rank source. Blair Government had lied by rejecting this and calling Kelly just a technical expert.
This is headline of the hour, not the perception management that one read/hears/sees in the embedded media.
You don't hear this point in the corporate papers, or hear it on Radio/TV.
11-08-2003 13:15I'm making this documentary available for the first time since it was banned in 1986. It examines the hidden workings of the UK cabinet. I was so indignant that an important bit of education about our so-called democracy could be banned. The ban was clearly politically motivated and worked against the national interest.

08-08-2003 14:53As the State of the Nation Address of the President was heading towards its date, a group of 296 soldiers - 70 junior officers and 226 enlisted men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)- staged on July 27 the siege of the Oakwood Premier luxury hotel at the Ayala Center, in Makati financial district of Metro Manila. Based on their own statements as the people heard it on tv and radios, they were asking the entire administration to resign. The rebels had accused Ms Macapagal and Defense Secretary Reyes of corruption and sponsoring terrorist bombings in Mindanao. They also complained of low pay and inadequate housing of the troops. It is a public, spectacular and clear accusation of corruption against the bourgeois state system and its “war on terror”.
